Fatin Syazliana, Eric Lim bags 2004 first leg Open division titles |
8th February, Ipoh: Newly promoted Fatin Syazliana bagged the SportExcel-NSC-Milo-MSSM Junior Circuit first leg Girl's Open title at Ampang Superbowl while local youth, Eric Lim took the Boy's Open title.
The pint-sized Fatin Syazliana from Penang passed the test in the Open division with flying colours when she bagged the Girl's Open title defeating top-seed and much more experience opponent, Sharon Koh in two games. Fatin won the first stepladder match 178-142 to force Sharon into the sudden-death and final match. Fatin won the second with 161 to Sharon's identical score of 142 for a much deserved win.
Fatin had an easy passage to have a crack at the title after ousting 2nd-seed and 17th Interstate Championship two Gold medalist, Yap Pui Yee (134) and 4th-seed and 2003 GP Finals Graded champion, Siti Safiyah Amirah (126) with 164. |

National Youth, Sharon Koh led all the way including topping the round-robin finals with 3956 just 3 pins ahead of Yap Pui Yee in second with 3953 while the champion, Fatin Syazliana (3932) and Siti Safiyah (3888) made the stepladder finals in 3rd and 4th places.

The Boys Open division witnessed a keener contest as top-seed Eric Lim survived an onslaught from his challenger, Faris Izwan after the latter forced Eric into a sudden-death roll-off by winning the first match 191-177. But the leader in all the rounds kept his composure to beat Faris in the final game 204-166 for the title.
Third-seed Fariz nearly pulled off a surprise after winning the first Boy's Open stepladder finals match defeating 2nd-seed Fahmi Bahri (163) from Johor and 4th-seed Mohd Faiz Shahruddin (201) from Penang with a fine score of 214.
The champion Eric was the only bowler to average above 200 when he topped the round-robin finals with a score of 4487, 154 pins ahead of Fahmi Bahri in second with 4333 while Faris Izwan (4234) and Mohd Faiz Shahruddin (4226) made the cut for the stepladder finals in 3rd and 4th respectively. |

| Nor Atteya, Mohd Huzaily captures Graded division titles |
8th February, Ipoh: Quarter finals leaders, Nor Atteya of Perak and Mohd Huzaily captured the SportEcxel-NSC-Milo-MSSM Junior Circuit first leg Girl's and Boy's Graded titles respectively at Ampang Superbowl this afternoon.
Top-seed Nor Atteya easily defeated 17th Interstate Championship Girl's Team Gold medalist Sin Li Jane 184-139 in the final stepladder match to capture her first-ever title. Li Jane settled for second despite winning the first match with 202 against 3rd-seed Lina Marissa (117) from Kedah and 4th-seed Diyana Syazwani (120) of Selangor.
Nor Atteya topped the round-robin finals earlier with a score of 3841 followed by Sin Li Jane in second with 3832 while Lina Marissa Zamri (3749) and Diyana Syazwani (3526) made the stepladder in 3rd and 4th. |

In the Boys' Graded division, burly Selangor's Mohd Huzaily who led in almost all the earlier rounds, tasted his maiden win when he easily disposed off Perak's Foo Yeong Lin 208-160 victory in the final setpladder match for the title.
In the first stepladder match, Foo Yeong Lin survived challenges from 2nd-seed Tajul Aswad (165) from Penang and 4th-seed Mohd Khushairi (175) of Perak with a score of 183.
Mohd Huzaily made the stepladder finals by topping the division with a score of 4119 just 2 pins ahead of Tajul Aswad in second with 4117 while Foo Yeng Lin (4090) and Mohd Khushairi (4053) finished 3rd and 4th respectively.

| Sharon Koh, Eric Lim tops Girl's and Boy's Open quarter finals |
7th February, Ipoh: Hong Kong Ladies Graded Champion Sharon Koh and local boy Eric Lim topped the Girl's and Boy's Open quarterfinals of the SportExcel-NSC-Milo-MSSM Junior Circuit 2004 first leg at Ampang Superbowl.
Sharon Koh, winner of the Singles Silver medal in the 6th Asian Schools Championship and leader in Stage 1, scored 1100 to give her a total of 2571 to lead the top 8 Girls into the round-robin finals tomorrow. The top 3 places remained unchanged with Nadya Izzati Nor Azman from Kedah and Syarifah Arifah of Perak in second and third on 2453 and 2434 scoreline respectively.
Fatin Syazliana (4th-2425), Yap Pui Yee (5th-2370), Ziran Nadiah Ghazali (6th-2366), Saw Bee Gek (7th-2354) and Charlotte Sak (8th-2340) all made the round-robin finals finishing in the top 8. |

In the Boy's Open division, local lad Eric Lim also maintained the lead he took in Stage 1 after this afternoon's quarterfinals. Eric downed 1262 to give himself a comfortable 263 pins lead from Mohd Faiz Shahruddin from Penang in second spot with 2659. Third position went to Perak's Faris Izwan with a score of 2639 while Fahmi Bahri Sulaiman dropped one spot to fourth with 2635.
Making the top 8 for tomorrow's round-robin finals were Aliff Ahmad (5th-2629), Eric Chai Seng Kit (6th-2585), Adrian Charles Dragon (7th-2571) and Johan Jamaluddin (8th-2549).

| Nor Atteya, Muhd Huzaily takes over Graded quarter finals lead |
7th February, Ipoh: Local crowd favourite Nor Atteya and Selangor's Muhd Huzaily took over the Girl's and Boy's Graded quarter finals in the SportExcel-NSC-Milo-MSSM Junior Circuit 2004 first leg at Ampang Superbowl.
Nor Atteya, who was second in Stage and only 10 pins from the leader, scored 1108 giving her a total of 2471 to take over the lead in the Girl's Graded quarterfinals. 17th Interstate Girl's Team Gold medalist, Sin Li Jane impressed to move up from 15th yesterday to second place with a superb 2341 total while Stage 1 leader Diyana Syazwani from Selangor dropped to third with 2307 after a poor 934 in the quarterfinals.
Lina Marissa Zamri from Kedah also did well moving up from 14th to fourth with 2283 followed by Nur Hidayah Adam in fifth with 2264. |

Adlin Nadhirah Ghazali (6th-2246), Fhatin Akhalili Ahmad (7th-2233) and Nor Amilia Mohd Nor (8th-2230) made tomorrow's round-robin finals for finishing in the top 8. |
In the Boy's division, Muhd Huzaily grabbed the lead from Stage 1 leader Tajul Aswad after he amassed a total pinfall of 2714. Huzaily, who was second yesterday is now 49 pins ahead of Tajul Aswad, who only managed 2665.
Local youth, Mohd Kjushairi bin Bashah maintained third position with a score of 2526 followed by Foo Yeong Lin in fourth improving from 8th yesterday on 2523. Kedah's Mohd Rifdi did well to take up fifth spot with 2500 after a lowly 10th in Stage 1 while Jeremy Mun also improved from 7th to sixth with 2491.
Muhamad Nasir M. Junuh (2490) and Mohd Hafizuddin (2430) just managed to squeeze into the round-robin finals in 7th and 8th respectively. |

Diyana Syazwani, Tajul Aswad tops Graded division Stage 1 |
6th February, Ipoh: The SportExcel-NSC-Milo-MSSM Junior Circuit 2004 first leg kicked off at Ampang Superbowl, Ipoh with newcomer Diyana Syazwani from Selangor topping the Girl's Graded division Stage 1 while Tajul Aswad from Penang led the Boy's Graded division.
Diyana bowled well to lead the field of 50 girls with a score of 1373. Diyana had lines of 181, 204, 137, 162, 171, 192, 174 and 152 to lead by ten pins from local gal Nor Ateyya who scored 1363 for second spot. Another twenty-seven pins away in third spot Nor Amilia Mohd Nor with a score of 1336 followed by Nur Hidayah Adam in fourth with 1309.
Adlin Nadhirah Ghazali (5th-1301), Nazrinnah Mohd Kamil (6th-1282), Ili Syazana bte Jamal Azmi (7th-1277) and Tg. Emanina Laily (8th-1263) completed the top 8. |

In the Boy's Graded division, newcomer Tajul Aswad from Penang topped a field of 73 boys with a score of 1579. Tajul downed lines of 179, 179, 188, 227, 246, 222, 168 and 170 for an impressive 197.38 average to lead by thirty pins from Mohd Huzaily from Megalanes Shah Alam, Selangor who scored 1549 for second position. Third place went to local lad Mohd Kjushairi bin Bashah with a score of 1475 followed by another local lad Mohd Ismail in fourth with 1463.
Muhamad Nasir M. Junuh (5th-1425), Mohd Ilham (6th-1401), Jeremy Mun (7th-1396) and Foo Yeong Lin (1390) made up the top 8 boy's graded.
The top 48 Boys and top 28 Girls qualified for tomorrow's quarterfinal. At the end of the quarterfinal, the top 8 from each division will make the cut for the round-robin finals. |
