Mohd Faiz, Ziran Nadiah captures fourth leg Open titles

4th April, Kuantan: Malaysian Open Graded Masters champion, Mohammad Faiz Shahruddin of Penang stepped up on his form to capture the SportExcel-NSC-Milo-MSSM Junior Circuit Pahang Leg Boy's Open title at Kuantan Mega Lanes this afternoon while Selangor's Ziran Nadiah Ghazali emerged the Girl's Open champion.

The burly 17 year-old and top-seed Faiz defeated his challenger Khairul Hafidz from Kedah in the stepladder finals 200-184. The win has also given Mohammad Faiz his second Junior Circuit title this year after he triumphed in the second leg in Seberang Prai.

In the first Boy's Open stepladder match, 3rd-seed Khairul Hafidz easily knocked 2nd-seed Eric Lim of Perak (181) and 4th-seed Aliff Ahmad (169) with a score of 211 before going down to the champion. Khairul settled for second while Eric Lim of Perak and Aliff Ahmad from Johor finished 3rd and 4th respectively.

The champion completed the round-robin finals on pole with a score of 1627 to give him a total of 4427 ahead of first leg champion Eric Lim who totalled 4384. Khairul Hafidz finished 3rd with 4320 and Aliff Ahmad 4th with 4308.


Last leg 3rd-runnerup, Ziran Nadiah Ghazali from Selangor emerged the Girl's Open champion when she narrowly defeated second leg runnerup Nadya Izzati from Kedah 195-184 to win her first-ever title in the Open division. 4th-seed Nadya won the first match knocking out 2nd-seed Low Xin Pin of Kuala Lumpur (147) and Johor's Wan Nur Atiqqa (135) with 176 before finishing runnerup.

The champion topped the round-robin finals with a total of 4243 followed by Low Xin Pin in second with 4003. Wan Nur Atiqqa and Nadya Izzati were placed 3rd and 4th with 3988 and 3931 respectively.

The next and fifth leg of the Junior Circuit will be held at Golden Bowl in Seremban for the first time from April 30 to May 2 and would give most of the youth bowlers who are potential SUKMA squads a chance to try out the lanes.

Number four for Nor Atteya, Sean Hooi wins Boy's Graded title

4th April, Kuantan: Nor Atteya of Perak won her fourth consecutive Girl's Graded title when she triumphed in the SportExcel-NSC-Milo-MSSM Junior Circuit Pahang Leg at Kuantan Mega Lanes while local youth, Sean Hooi won the Boy's Graded crown.

The champion was a class of her own after finishing top at the end of the round-robin finals. She outclassed her challenger when she easily defeated Lina Marissa Zamri from Kedah 193-149 in the stepladder finals to win her No. 4 title this year. She has now equalled the 4 titles record set by ex-national bowler Sharon Chai from Johor when she was competing in the circuit.

with a score of 194. The 3rd and 4th placing remained as the girls have finished in the round-robin finals. Nor Atteya topped with 3992 followed by Lina Marissa in second with 3916, Siti Shazwani in 3rd with 3894 and Nazrinnah Mohd Kamil in 4th with 3850.


Meanwhile Sean Hooi Jen Xiung of Pahang forced his fellow hometown youth and top-seed Syed Muzaffar to the sudden-death final game after he took the first game of the Boy's Graded stepladder finals with 188-176. Sean went on to win the second game 204-197 to snatch the title from Syed Muzaffar. The champion and 3rd-seed also won the ealier match when he ourclassed 2nd-seed Rodson Tong (190) of Pahang and 4th-seed Tengku Ariff (186) of Kedah with an impressive 226.

3rd April, Kuantan: Khairul Hafidz of Kedah and Ziran Nadiah Ghazali of Selangor led the Boy's and Girl's Open quarter finals of the SportExcel-NSC-Milo-MSSM Junior Circuit Pahang Leg at Kuantan Mega Lanes this afternoon.

Khairul, the 18 year-old 6th Asian Schools Team Gold medalist had lines of 155, 164, 191, 202, 262 and 265 for a score of 1239 and a total 2801 to take over the lead from Stage 1 leader Aliff Ahmad of Johor who dropped to second just 6 pins behind Khairul on 2795. Second leg champion, Mohammad Faiz Shahruddin from Penang did well to stay in contention and amongst the leaders with 2740 for thid place.

(PRK-2672) all made the cut for the round-robin finals from 4th to 8th positions respectively.


Stage 1 leader, Ziran Nadiah Ghazali of Selangor continued to lead the Girl's Open divison after the 6-games quarter finals. Ziran knocked down 160, 223, 193, 172, 203 and 188 for a score of 1139 brigning her total to 2695 to qualify for the round-ronin finals.

17th Interstate Girl's Team Silver medalist, Low Xin Pin from Kuala Lumpur finished a distant second on a total of 2548 while last leg champion, Charlotte Sak from Selangor took third spot with 2536.

Wan Nur Atiqqa (JOH-2532), Nadya Izzati (KED-2516), Jerusha Chan Poe Yin (PAH-2498), Syarifah Arifah (PRK-2469) and Zatil Iman (SEL-2390) made the cut for the round-robin finals from 4th to 8th positions respectivley.

Meanwhile, Syed Muzaffar Syed Moshin of Pahang moved up from third to take over the lead with 2855 in the Boy's Graded division, pushing down Stage 1 leader Rodson Tong Juinn Chuan also from Pahang into second who totalled 2755. Sean Hooi Jen Xiung also dropped one spot from second to third on a 2584 total.

Syed Muzaffar, who trailed Rodson by 44 pins, scored 1289 over the 6-games quarter finals to add to his Stage 1 score of 1566 for exactly 100 pins lead.

Tengku Ariff Tengku Zahari (KED-2570), Mohd Hanfi B. Mohd Bakri (PAH-2567), Radin Mohd Faiq (PAH-2554) and Mohd Zikri Azman (KED-2492) survived to make it to the round-robin finals.

In the Girl's Graded division, lead changed hands when Nazrinnah Mohd Kamil from Perak bowled a superb 1143 and a total of 2491 to move up from 7th in Stage 1 to lead the 8 girls in the quarter finals. Lina Marissa Zamri from Kedah retained second position on a total of 2450 while three-consecutive legs champion, Nor Atteya Bte. Zainal Abidin improved from 8th to third with 2418.

Siti Shaswani Bte Ahmad Suhaimi (JOH-2418), Ili Syazana Bte. Jamal Azmi (SEL-2371), Nur Eliza Bte Ezanee (KEL-2338), Eunice Chan Jie Hui (KUL-2335) and Charmaine Ho Sook Mun (KUL-2323) qualified for the next round from 4th to 8th positions.

The top 8 from each division made the cut for tomorrow's round-robin finals where they will play another 8 games. The top 4 at the end of the finals will proceed to the stepladder finals to determine that winners.

Aliff Ahmad, Ziran Nadiah tops Open division Stage 1

3rd April, Kuantan: Aliff Ahmad of Johor and Ziran Nadiah Ghazali of Selangor topped Boy's and Girl's Open division Stage 1 of the SportExcel-NSC-Milo-MSSM Junior Circuit Pahang Leg this morning at Kuantan Mega Lanes.

Aliff was the only bowler to average above the 200 mark when he downed 212, 149, 192, 219, 256, 149, 233 and 203for a total of 1613 despite having two two games. Radin Mohd Fadli from Pahang scored 1590 to trail the leader by 23 pins with Kedah's Khairul Hafidz in third position with 1562 over the 8 games Stage 1 of the Boy's Open division.

National youth, Adrian Charles Dragon from Penang finished fourth with a score of 1557 while Kuala Lumpur's Ian Tay Yee Ren did well to take fifth spot with 1551.

Meanwhile, Ziran Nadiah Ghazali from Selangor was equally impressive when she took the lead of the Girl's Open division with a score of 1556. She led second-placed Wan Nur Attiqa of Johor by 37 pins followed by pint-sized Nadya Izzati Nor Azman from Kedah in third spot with 1431.

Perak's Low Xin Pin took fourth position with 1430 while KL leg champion, Charlotte Sak finished fifth on 1429.

The top 16 Boys and all the 9 Girls in the Open division advance to the quarter finals which will be played later today.

Nur Eliza Ezanee tops first Stage Girl's Graded division

2nd April, Kuantan: Nur Eliza Bte Ezanee from Kelantan topped the Girl's Graded Stage 1 of the SportExcel-NSC-Milo-MSSM Junior Circuit Pahang Leg this evening at Kuantan Mega Lanes.

Nur Eliza had lines of 180, 180, 179, 177, 228, 137, 136 and 185 for a total of 1402 and averaged 175.25. She led Kedah's Lina Marissa Zamri by 12 pins who shot 1390 in her 8 games Stage 1 for second spot and Charmaine Ho Sook Mun from Kuala Lumpur in third with 1377.

Anith Aqilah Sulaiman of MSN took 4th spot 5 pins from Charmaine on 1372 while Nor Amilia Bte Mohd Nor finished in 5th with a total of 1365.

The top 24 will advance to the quarterfinals where they will play another 6 games tomorrow. The top 8 at the end of the quarterfinals will make the cut for the semifinals on Sunday. The Girls and Boys Open will be playing their Stage 1 tomorrow and the results will be available then.

Local youths dominate Boy's Graded Stage 1

2nd April, Kuantan: Rodson Tong Juinn Chuan led Pahang youths to dominate the Boy's Graded Stage 1 of the SportExcel-NSC-Milo-MSSM Junior Circuit Pahang leg this afternoon at Kuantan Mega Lanes.

Twenty-nine Boy's Graded bowlers took to the lanes this morning to start off their Stage 1 of 8 games. KL leg champion, Afiq Rifqi of Johor took the lead in this group only to hand the lead to Pahang's Rodson Tong Juinn Chuan when the remaining 37 boys bowl in the second squad.

Rodson scored 1610 with lines of 202, 221, 203, 241, 170, 203, 187 and 183 ahead of Sean Hooi Jen Xiung in second with 1579. Syed Muzaffar completed Pahang youth's domination finishing third with 1566 pinfalls.

Kedah's Tengku Ariff Tengku Mohsin took 4th spot with 1523 while Squad A leader Ariq Rifqi dropped to 5th with 1520. Mohd Hanif B. Mohd Bakri (PAH-1512), Johnathan Chan (PAH-1488), Rafiq Azri Razali (SEL-1444), Syahereza Fajrin (SEL-1440) and Mohd Nazri (MSN-1435) completed the top 10 from 6th to 10th places respectively.

The top 48 will advance to the quarterfinals where they will play another 6 games tomorrow. The top 8 at the end of the quarterfinals will make the cut for the semifinals on Sunday. The girls are playing their Stage 1 and the results will be available later.
