Four states share glory

7th March, Ipoh: Four states shared glory at the SportExcel-NSC-Milo-MTBC Junior Circuit Second leg when Teh Lit Qing of Perak and Nur Shamira Abdul Manaf SABC captured the Boy's and Girl's Open titles as Terengganu and KL took the Boy's and Girl's Graded crowns.

Top seed, Teh Lit Qing had to go the extra mile to claim his first circuit title after losing the first game, 164-189 to challenger and No. 2 seed, Shaun Chan of Selangor in the Boy's Open title match.

But the 17-year-old bounced back with a 194-161 win over Chan and then convincingly trashed the Selangor youth, 224-178 for a well deserved victory. The champion had earlier topped both the Stage 1 and 2 qualifying rounds with a 14-game total of 2883.

Teh advanced into the finals after ousting winner of the 4th-6th-8th-seeds quarter-finals, Muhammad Saman of Pahang, 173-229 and 211-189. Muhammad Saman finished fourth in the final standings.

Chan, who defeated winner of the 3rd-5th-7th-seeds quarter-finals, Mohd Azlan of Perak, 218-223 and 244-201, failed to repeat the form he showed earlier and had to settle for second position.


Nur Shamira Abdul Manaf of Shah Alam Bowling Club needed to games to bag the Girl's Open title after being seeded second. The champion defeated No. 1 seed, Nur Syamimi Supardi of Perak, 179-169 and 222-213.

Nur Syamimi, who led in both the Stage 1 and 2 qualifying rounds with 2691, had to settle for second spot. Nur Shamira finished second with 2649 while Natasha Roslan of Selangor and Fatin Haswani of Penang third.

Natasha defeated Farah Izzazaya of Pahang (146 and 176) and Syaidatul Afyna of Perak (134 and 139) with 204 and 206 in the 3rd-5th-7th-seeds quarterfinals and Fatin won the other quarter-finals with 192 and 161 against Nazira Nasi of Pahang (171 and 145) and Zatil Iman of N.Sembilan (143 and 157).

Terengganu tasted their first circuit success after No. 1 seed, Mohd Syazwan B Kamaruddin narrowly beat No. 7 seed, Hairul Budris B Hassan Basery of KL, 181-171 and 199-190 in the Boy's Graded finals.

Mohd Syazwan had earlier defeated No. 6 seed, Mohd Supian of Selangor, 190-164 to advance into the finals while Hairul Budris edged No. 2 seed, Mohd Nazmi B Mohd Mazli of Penang, 205-182 and 203-174 to meet the top seed.

Siti Nurzulaika Bte Ismail of KL clinched the Girl's Graded after she beat No. 5 seed, Noor Afiqah Bte Abdul Halim of Pahang 145-142 and 196-186 in the finals. Siti Nurzulaika also ousted top seed, Faten Najihah of Pahang, 195-183 and 186-177 in the second semi to advance.

Runnerup, Noor Afiqah took out No. 2 seed, Nur'ain Bte Mustaffa of Kedah, 169-140 and 184-142 to earn her spot in the finals but lost to Siti Nurzulaika to settle for second. Faten Najihah and Nur'ain finished third and fourth.


KL's Nur Dayana Bte Zuhdi again proved she is a star in the making after she claimed her second circuit under-12 title by totaling 2064 over the 12-games qualifying and finals with 152 pins margin.

Nur Fadhlin Arisya Bte Mohd Arif and Nur Aliaa Bte Ramli, both of Perak finished second and third with 1912 and 1908 respectively while fourth spot went to Ayra Nur Jehan of Selangor with 1892.

Fakhrul Daniel of Perak clinched his first circuit title after he edged his fellow Perak youth, Afiq Irsyaduddin B Bahanoddin by 13 pins with a total of 2045. Afiq took second spot with 2032 ahead of another Perak youth, Tun Ameerul Al-Hakim, who totaled 2019 for third.
