Quarterfinal leaders and top-seeds claim Selangor leg titles

20th June, P.Jaya: Leaders of the quarterfinals and top-seeds from each division claimed their SportExcel-NSC-Milo-MSSM Junior Circuit sixth leg titles which concluded at Pyramid Megalanes this afternoon.

Quarterfinal leader and top-seed Syafiq Ridhwan easily claimed his Selangor leg title when he defeated winner of the first stepladder match, Kelvin Keong, 201-157. The Selangor youth and fourth-seed won the first Boy's Open stepladder match knocking out second-seed, Muhammad Faiz (142) of Penang and third-seed, Fahmi Bahri (216) of Johor with a superb 236.

Ahmad Fauzan (NSE-4483), Mohd Amirul Syazwan (MSN-4453), Eric Lim (PRK-4444) and Nor Aiman (JOH-4278) finished fourth to eighth respectively in the earlier Round-robin finals.

Meanwhile, there was no stopping the Selangor youth, Siti Safiyah Amirah when she forced top-seed, Sharon Koh into the sudden-death match after winning the first match 203-185. The Stage 1 and quarterfinal leader showed complete composure to over-power Sharon 235-174 to return to her winning form since last year.

The champion had earlier ousted third-seed, Yap Pui Yee (191) of Kuala Lumpur and fourth-seed Nadya Izzati (174) of Kedah with 214 before taking on the top-seed.

Norhanizah Bte Abu Bakar (KUL-4256), Charlotte Sak (SEL-4206), Noor Diana Azis (SSBP-4108) and Wan Nur Atiqqa Yusof (JOH-4040) took up fourth to eighth respectively in the Girl's Open Round-robin finals.

In the Boy's Graded division, Tengku Ariff of Kedah was unstoppable when he outclassed Mohd Ferdaus of Megalanes Shah Alam, 267-148 to earn a well-deserved title.

The second-seed, Ferdaus settled for runner-up despite knocking out third-seed, Jemery Mun (192) of Kuala Lumpur and fourth-seed Afiq Rifqi (171) of Johor with a high game of 264. Jeremy took third spot while Afiq remained for fourth.

Mohd Rifdi (KED-4369), Derrik Yaw (KUL-4235), Mohd Nazri Mat Lahat (MSN-4213) and Mohd Fadzrul B. Mohd Khalid (JOH-4041) finsihed fourth to eighth respectively in the earlier Boy's Graded Round-robin finals.


Tengku Ariff earning his second title this year

In the Girl's Graded division, Interstate Gold medalist and top-seed, Sin Li Jane of Perak, narrowly defeated fourth-seed and challenger, Ili Syazana of Selangor, 184-182 to claim her second title this year.

The champion had earlier topped the Round-robin fianls with a score of 4238 before the stepllader finals. The runner-up, Syazana had a lucky break when she won the first match with a low score of 169 to knock out second-seed, Denis Ho (156) of Kuala Lumpur and Stage 1 leader, Nor Atteya (166) of Perak.

Leong Huei Ping (SEL-3937), Nur Hidayah Adam (SEL-3912), Charmaine Ho Sook Mun (MSN-KUL-3899) and Pang Shi Wan (MEL-3891) took up fourth to eighth respectively in the Girl's Graded Round-robin finals.

Siti Safiyah continues lead, Syafiq Ridhwan tops Boy's Open

19th June, P.Jaya: Selangor's Siti Safiyah continued to lead the Girl's Open at the end of the quarterfinals of the SportExcel-NSC-Milo-MSSM Junior Circuit sixth leg while Syafiq Ridhwan took over the Boy's Open division.

The second day of the SportExcel-NSC-Milo-MSSM Junior Circuit Selangor Leg provided full of excitment among all the categories when the scores were so close that it was difficult to detemine who will make the top 8 until the last ball of the last game were bowled.

National youth and winner of several legs in the last year's circuit, Siti Syafiyah Amirah continued her lead in the Girl's Open division with 2856. Fourty-nine pins behind in second position was another national youth bowler Sharon Koh with 2807 while Kuala Lumpur's Yap Pui Yee took up third spot with 2765.

The other five girls joining them in tomorrow's Round-robin semifinals were Norhanizah bte Abu Bakar of Kuala Lumpur (4th-2696), Kedah's Nadya Izzati Nor Azman (5th-2659), Negri Sembilan Leg Champion Charlotte Sak of Selangor (6th-2633), Johor's Wan Nur Atiqqa bte Wan Yusof (7th2619) and Noor Diana Azis of Sekolah Bandar Penawar (8th-2607).


National Youth bowler and Pre-Unversity student of Bukit Jalil Sport School, Syafiq Ridhwan took over the lead in the Boy's Open division after he shot 1278 in this afternoon's quarterfinals. He accumulated a total of 2929 over 14 games to average 209.24 and a 74-pin lead over second placed Eric Lim of Perak. Overnight leader Mohd Faiz of Penang dropped to third place with 2890, just 3 pins behind Eric.

The other five bowlers joining them for the Round-robin semifinals were Mohd Amirul Syazwan Sulaiman of MSN (4th-2858), National youth from Johor, Fahmi Bahri bin Hj Sulaiman (5th-2800), Ahmad Fauzan Badruddin of Negeri Sembilan (6th-2795), Asian Schools Championship Gold Medalist Nur Aiman (7th-2773) and Selangor's SUKMA bowler Kelvin Keong (8th-2771).

The top 8 Girls and Boys Open division, will start the Round-robin semifinals at 9.00am tomorrow (20th June) at the end of which the top 4 will proceed to to stepladder Grand Finals to determine the champion.

Sin Li Jane new leader, Tengku Ariff maintains pole position

19th June, P.Jaya: Interstate Gold medalist, Sin Li Jane of Perak, became the new leader of the Girl's Graded division after the quarterfinals of the SportExcel-NSC-Milo-MSSM Junior Circuit sixth leg were completed while Kedah's Tengku Ariff maintained his lead in the Boy's Graded division.

Negri Sembilan Leg Champion and National Interstate Gold Medalist, Sin Li Jane of Perak shot 1189 in the quarterfinals to take over the pole position in the Girl's Graded division with 2609 total. MSN/KL's Denise Ho Sook Yien was a close second with 2593 followed by Selangor's Nur Hidayah Adam in third place with 2556.

Atteya btr Zainal Abidin (5th-2485), MSN/KL's Charmaine Ho Sook Mun (6th-2474), Selangor's Leong Huei Ping (7th-2460) and Ili Syazana bte Jamal Azmi also from Selangor (8th-2446).


Meanwhile, Tengku Ariff Tengku Zahari of Kedah maintained his lead in the Boy's Graded division with 2924 and a huge margin of 109 pins over second placed Mohd Firdaus Johari of Megalanes Shah Alam, who scored 2815. Following closely in third place was another bowler from Kedah Mohd Rifdi with 2789.

MSN/KL's Jeremy Mun (4th-2765), Derrik Yaw of Kuala Lumpur (5th-2732) and Johor's Mohd Fadzrul bin Mohd Khalid (6th-2720), Afiq Rifqi bin Lahat Daduk (7th-2716) and MSN's Mohd Nazri Mat Lahat (8th-2702) rounded up the top 8 to move into the next round.

Tengku Ariff maintaining a comfortable lead
Siti Safiyah, Nor Atteya grabs Stage 1 lead

19th June, P.Jaya: Selangor's Siti Safiyah and three-times winner, Nor Atteya of Perak grabbed the the Girl's Open and Graded Stage 1 lead of the SportExcel-NSC-Milo-MSSM Junior Circuit sixth leg at Pyramid Megalanes this morning.

Winner of last year's Kuantan leg, Siti Safiyah took the lead of the Girl's Open Stage 1 with a score of 1649. Safiayh was the only bowler in this division to average over the 200-mark with lines of 205, 183, 197, 206, 214, 224, 214 and 206.

Asian Schools Silver medalist, Sharon Koh took second spot, 68 pins adrft on a total of 1581 while third position went to Aressa Malenie Thurairajah from Negeri Sembilan with 1561. Nadya Izzati Nor Azman of Kedah and this year's KL and Seremban legs winner, Charlotte Sak of Selangor finished fourth and fifth with 1552 and 1551 respectively.

Meanwhile, three-times winner, Nor Atteya bte Zainal Abidin of Perak, clinched the lead of the Girl's Graded division when she totalled 1457 with a 31-pin cushion over second-placed Nazrinnah Mohd Kamil also from Perak, who knocked down 1426.

Third spot went to Selangor's Leong Huei Ping with 1423 followed by last leg champion, Sin Li Jane of Perak and Pang Shi Wan from Melaka in fourth and fifth with respective scores of 1420 and 1412.

The top 12 Girl's Open and top 28 Girl's Graded will proceed to stage 2 quarterfinals for another 6 games with scores carried forward. The top 8 from each category will play the Round-robin semifinals on Sunday, 20th June.

Mohd Faiz, Tengku Ariff takes pole positions in Boy's Stage 1

18th June, P.Jaya: SUKMA Gold medalist, Mohd Faiz Shahruddin of Penang and Tengku Ariff Tengku Zahari of Kedah took pole psotions in the Boy's Open and Boy's Graded Stage 1 of the SportExcel-NSC-Milo-MSSM Junior Circuit sixth leg at Pyramid Megalanes this afternoon.

Faiz knocked down a total of 1734 for an average of 216.75 to lead second placed Mohd Amirul Syazwan Sulaiman of MSN by 18 pins. Faiz posted lines of 188, 216, 225, 247, 192, 214, 239 and 213.

Three national youth bowlers, Perak's Eric Lim, Penang's Adrian Charles Dragon and Bukit Jalil Sport School Pre-University student Syafiq Ridhwan rounded up top 5 with 1689, 1660 and 1651 respectively.

Meanwhile, Kedah's Tengku Ariff Tengku Zahari topped the Boy's Graded division with 1720 averaging 215 and holding a 53-pins lead over MSN's Jeremy Mun, who scored 1667 for second position.

Megalanes Shah Alam's Mohd Firdaus Johari was another 6 pins behind in third place with 1661 while Johor's Mohd Fedzrul Mohd Khalid and Kedah's Mohd Rifdi finished foutth and fifth with 1625 and 1620 respectively.

Top 16 Boys' Open and top 48 bowlers in the Graded division has qualified for Round 2 quarterfinals for another 6 games when the top 8 will make the cut for the Round-Robin semifinals.

The Girl's Open and Girl's Graded Stage 1 will be played tomorrow
