KL youths steal limelight

5th July, Seremban: Kuala Lumpur youths stole the limelight at the SportExcel-NSC-Milo-MTBC Junior Circuit sixth leg as KL's Nur Umirah Abdul Raduan captured her third Girl's Open title and Mohd Ikmal clinched his Boy's Graded crown first on Sunday.

Topseed, Nur Uimrah Abdul Raduan of KL gave little chance to her opponent as she easily defeated Fatin Hazwani of Penang, 201-153 and 191-179 over two matches to capture her third Girl's Open Masters title this year.

Nur Umirah who topped the second round with a total of 2762 over 14-games, eliminated sixth-seed and winner of the second quarterfinal match, Nursyamini of Perak, 191-178 to advance into the finals.

Fatin Hazwani ousted fifth-seed and winner of the first quarterfinal match, Radin Nur Najwa of KL, 182-166 in the other semi to reach the finals to face the eventual champion, Nur Umirah. The champion had won the first leg in Penang and the Johor leg just two weeks ago.

Fatin, however took third spot on a higher losing score in the semi while Radin finished fourth.


Ahmad Muaz of Kedah claimed his second Boy's Open title when he defeated second-seed and winner of the first semifinal match, Muhammad Amin of Perak, 245-226 and 236-170 in the finals.

The champion also went to two matches when he edged another Perak youth and winner of the first quarterfinal match, Faiz Miza, 211-175 and 206-192 to reach the finals while Muhammad Amin easily ousted fifth-seed, Muhammad Shahir of Negeri Sembilan, 213-172 in the first semi.

Kuala Lumpur won their second title when Muhd Ikmal defeated topseed and winner of the second semifinal, Mohd Izzul Fahmi of Perak, 237-222 and 209-178 to capture his first Boy's Graded title.

The champion had to knock out second-seed, Jason Syow of Melaka over two matches, 229-178 and 220-192 to reach the finals. Runner-up, Mohd Izzul advanced to the finals with an easy victory over Mohd SHafiq of Selangor, 196-164. Jason Syow, who won the first quarterfinal match, took third spot while Mohd Shafiq settled for fourth place.


The Girl's Graded crown went to local lass, Puteri Nadia after she defeated second-seed and winner of the first semifinal match, 166-152, 180-211 and 192-170 to claim her first-ever circuit title.

Puteri also edged eighth-seed, Natasha Mohd Roslan of Selangor, in a high-scoring second semi, 234-227 to advance to the finals while Nurul Farhana of N.Sembilan easily took out fifth-seed, Diyana Nadrirah of KL, 194-158 to face Puteri.

Meanwhile, Adam Rahimi Hazmi of Kelantan and Faten Najihah Ahmad Faik of Pahang finally captured their Under-12 titles. Adam amassed 1027 in the finals to add to his 986 from the qualifying round to finish top of the boy's division.

Puah Ting Wei of Selangor and Imran Azzahari Zainon of Kedah finished second and third with 1983 and 1969 totals respectively. Faten Najihah totaled 1961 over 12 games to win the Girl's Under-12 crown.

Ayra Nur Jehan Aminuddin of Selangor finished second with 1951, just 10 pins adrift while Nur Fadhlin Arisya Mohd Arif of Perak took third spot with 1928 pinfalls. The seventh and final leg of the circuit will be held at Sunway Mega Lanes from 24-26 July, 2009.

Perak youth shines in Stage 1

3rd July, Seremban: Perak youth, Mohd Izzul Fahmi Ibrahim shone in Stage 1 of the SportExcelNSC-Milo-MTBC by leading Squad A of the qualifying rounds underway at Ampang Superbowl on Friday afternoon.

Mohd Izzul started a cracking pace with a 247 opening game and follwed it up with a sizzling 265 to take a commanding lead in the Boy's Graded Stage 1. Despite two back-to-back low games of 162 and 171, the Perak youth bounched back with another high game of 280 in the fifth game.

Mohd Izzul ended the 8-game round with 244, 227 and easing off with 185 to top the squad with 1781. Ahmad Aidil Abdul Halim of KL finshed a distant second with 1603, 178 pins adrift Mohd Izzul while Mohd Hazwan of Negeri Sembilan took third spot with 1602.

Second leg third runner-up, Puteri Nadia Bt Kamarul Mahadir topped the Girl's Graded Stage 1 for local youths with a superb 1630 and confortably in front of Nurul Farhana Bt Azhar in second and Nur Nadzirah Bt Khairuddin third.

Twice knockout finalists, Muhd Qayyum B Zahari Azar led the Boy's Under-12 for local youths with 1004 over the six games qualfying round. Khairul Naim Radhi and Mohd Nur Helmi finished second and third spots with 940 and 848 respectively.

Meanwhile, Nabilah Bt Mohd Radzi led the Girl's Under-12 for local youths with a 6-game total of 921 followed by Raza Nadia Bt Rahim in second and Raza Nurhana Bt Rahim in second and third.

Squad B of Boy's Graded youths will take to the lanes for their Stage 1 qualifying round later today while the Girl's Open and Girl's Graded Squad B will contest their rounds in the evening.
