Sarawak youths claim all titles |
11th June, Kuching: Sarawak youths, Aris Ardila Santosoh, Fakhruzzaman Jasmi, Jacqueline J. Sijore and Nur Hanisa Salam claimed all categories titles of the SportExcel-NSC-Milo-MSSM Junior Circuit Sarawak leg which ended this afternoon.
The 14-year-old Aris Ardila of Miri, became the youngest youth to capture the Boy's Open title when he defeated third-seed and challenger, Vincent Ong of Kuching, 193-170 in the deciding final stepladder match. Ardila was forced to play the suddent-death match after Ong took the first match, 180-164. But the champion came back after settling down in the decider for a well-deserved win.
Ong settled for second despite winning the first match against two Sabahans, second-seed Thomas Tan and fourth-seed Mohd Zaim Said, 205-155-166. Mohd Zaim took third place while Thomas Tan was relegated to fourth. |

Jacqueline J. Sijore claimed her maiden win after she defeated fourth-seed and challenger, Amirah Kusian of Sabah, 177-167 for the Girl's Open title. The superb win by Jacqueline gave Sarawak its second title on home ground.
Amirah Musian had earlier edged out second and third-seed, Nor Rashida Nawawi and Bong Kishan, 174-169-172 in the first stepladder match to challenge the top-seed, Jacqueline. Bong Kishan finished third while Nor Rashida dropped to fourth.
Newcomer and fourth-seed, Fakhruzzaman Jasmi and top-seed, Nur Hanisa Salam os Sibu, gave Sarawak a cleen sweep of all the titles when Fakhruzzaman defeated top-seed, Wellington Wee, 183-177 in the deciding match and 190-178 in the first match to capture the Boy's Graded title. |

Nur Hanisa snatched the Girl's Graded title after the top-seed edged second-seed, Teresa Lee by just 1 pin, 155-154 in the final match. 12-year-old Bong Kihow settled for third with Nazriman Wagiman in fourth.
The prizes were presented by ABAS President, Sunny Si, Deputy President, Hj Shaiful Bahri, Mohd Zain Zakaria, Labuan Tenpin Bowling Association President and Jonathan Cheung, Sabah coach. The Sabah leg will be held at CPS Bowl in Kota Kinabalu from the 2 - 3 July, 2005.

| Local girls maintain lead in quarterfinals |
10th June, Kuching: Local girls, Nur Rashida of Kuaching and Nur Hanisa of Sibu maintained their lead in the Girl's Open and Graded divisions of the SportExcel-NSC-Milo-MSSM Junior Circuit Sarawak leg at the end of the quarterfinals.
Nor Rashida, the 17-year-old College Abdillah Petra Jaya student, posted 1035 in the 6-game quarterfinals to hold on to the lead she took in Round 1 yesterday. Jacqueline Sijore of Kuching also maintained second position with a total of 2376 while Wilhemina Wee moved up from seventh with a similar 1035 in the quarterfinals to take up third spot with 2332.

Form 4 student from SMK Methodist in Sibu, Nur Hanisa continued to lead the Girl's Graded division at the end of the 6-game quarterfinals totalling 2311. The 16-year-old ws 68 pins ahead of Dyg Khairunisa of Kuching, who scored 2243.
Teresa Lee of Kuching dropped one spot from second to third on a total of 2234 followed by Nurafidah Bte Mohd Amran of Kuching in fourth place with 2221. Aqilah Zaiynie of Sabah made up the top five in fifth spot with 2129.
The top 8 girls from both division will continue their Round-Robin Matchplay semifinals over 8 games. The top 4 at the end of this round will make the cut for the stepladder to determine the champion. |

| Youngsters shine in Kuching |
10th June, Kuching: Youngsters shone in the SportExcel-NSC-Milo-MSSM Junior Circuit Sarawak Leg as 12-year-old Bong Kihow of Kuching and 14-year-old Aris Ardila Santosoh of Miri grabbed the lead after the quarterfinals concluded at Riverside Superbowl.
Bong, who trailed overnight leader, Wellington Wee by 15 pins at the end of the 8-game Round 1 in the Boy's Graded division, got the better of Wee after the 6-game quarterfinals were played. The youngster led Wee by 15 pins on a total of 2617 while Wee froped to second with 2602.
Fakhruzzaman Jasmi moved up from seventh to occupy a distant third spot with a 1151 6-game series giving him a total score of 2504. Jasper Ling of Sibu also moved up the field to fourth with 2470 while Nazriman Wagiman of Kuching dropped from third to fifth with 2464. |

Meanwhile, 14-year-old Aris Ardila Santosoh took over the lead in the Boy's Open division with a total of 2604. Aridla, who was second to Thomas Tan of Sabah after the 8-game Round 1, scored a superb 1136 for the lead. Tan settled for second with 2546 followed by Vicent Ong of Kuching in third with 2482.
National Youth, Mohd Zaim Said of Sabah, Alex Tan of Kuching and Shah Nizam Doming of Miri finished fourth to sixth positions with 2467, 2407 and 2406 respectively.
The top 8 Boy's Graded and the only 6 Boy's Open will move on to the Round-Robin Matchplay semifinals at the end of the which the top 4 will proceed to the stepladder finals to determine the champion. |

In Round 1 yesterday, Nor Rashidah of Kuching finished top of the Girl's Open division with 1408 followed by Jacqueline J Sijore of Kuching in second with 1389 and Amirah Kuslan of Sabah third with 1363. The lead of the Girl's Graded division went to Nur Hanisa of Sibu with a score of 1371, just 3 pins ahead of two local lass, Teresa Lee and Nurhazreen Ashykin, in second and third.
More than 70 youths took part in this year's leg with youths from all over East Malaysia and including for the first time, youth bowlers from Labuan. Encik Zain Zakaria, President of Persatuan Tenpin Bowling W.P. Labuan, who accompanied 5 bowlers, was happy to see so many familiar faces.
