National youths bag third leg titles

7th May, K.Lumpur: National youths Fahmi Bahri of Johor and Irene Lee Chai Leng of Penang bagged the SportExcel-NSC-Milo-MTBC Junior Circuit KL leg Open titles which concluded Sunday evening at Mega Lanes Kuala Lumpur in Endah Parade.

The 17-year-old National youth, who has in the played second fiddle most of the time, finally bagged a Junior Circuit title in top flight after countless attempts. Fahmi Bahri's best result in the circuit was finishing as first runner-up in last year's GP Finals.

Qualifying as top-seed for the Boy's Open stepladder finals, the champion ended Muhd Fahd Hazali's charge by defeating him 227-174 in the final match to claim the title. The champion, who also topped the Boy's Open quarterfinals, rounded his day by topping the round-robin matchplay as top seed with a total of 4577 pinfalls.

The fourth-seed, Muhd Fadh of Kuala Lumpur, settled for second despite knocking out third-seed, Abdul Hadi Haris of Mega Lanes Shah Alam and fourth-seed, Khairul Diaz of Johor, 249-160-214.

The Girl's Open title went to national youth, Irene Lee Chai Leng of Penang after she edged her challenger, Nur Hidayah Nurdin of Negeri Sembilan, 188-154. Nur Hidayah had to contend with second despite thrashing third-seed, Fatin Syazliana of Penang and fourth-seed, Siti Nursyakila Mardyana, 223-168-195.


Meanwhile, top-seed, Muhammad Fazrin Khairul Faizi of Perak took his maiden win after he outclassed his challenger and winner of the first match, Syimir Abdul Razak of Pyramid Youth, 225-180.

Muhammad Fazrin had to work hard after a poor eigth-place finish in Stage 1 but the 15-year-old gradually moved up the field to finish third in the quarterfinals, just 23 pins adrift. Winning six matched and averaging 191.73 with a total of 4278 pinfalls put the youngster in pole position for the stepladder finals.

Syimir settled for second although he edged second-seed, Xavier Ang of Kuala Lumpur and fourth-seed, Hazwan Alias of Pahang, 178-169-172 to have a crack at the title.

Kuala Lumpur's Radin Nur Najwa also claimed her Girl's Graded maiden win after she ousted third-seed and winner of the first match, Haslinda Jusli of SSBP, 207-154. The champion had lead from Stage 1 through to the round-robin finals as top-seed.

Haslinda settled for second despite winning the first match against, third-seed, Dina Nurnadia of Selangor and Adlim Nadhirah of Mega Lanes Shah Alam, 180-116-178. The next stop will be the Penang leg on June 9 - 11 at Mega Lanes Prai.

National youth impresses with lead

6th May, K.Lumpur: National youth, Fahmi Bahri of Johor impressed with a lead in the Boy's Open Stage 1 of the SportExcel-NSC-Milo-MTBC Junior Circuit KL Leg while Nur Hidayah Nurdin led the Girl's Open division.

The 17-year-old started a cracking pace with 1 253 opening game and went on to chalked up lines of 190, 191, 198, 172, 201, 214 and 213 for an eight game total of 1632. Mega Lanes Shah Alam's Abdul Hadi Haris kept pace with the leader to finish second, just 8 pins adrift on 1624.

Johor's Khairul Diaz did well to take up third spot with a total of 1604 and becoming the third bowler to surpass the 200-mark average. Another national youth, Rodson Tong of Pahang finished a distant fourth with 1552 ahead of compatriot, Syed Muzzaffar fifth with 1550.

Perak leg champion, Adrian Charles Dragon came in sixth with 1549 followed by National Youth champion, Noor Afizal Azizan seventh with 1517. Mohd Aziem Azemi of Pyramid Youth, Chang Sean Der of Kuala Lumpur and Penang's Mohd Faiz Shahrudin round up the top 10.


In the Girl's Open division, Negeri Sembilan's Nur Hidayah Nurdin snatched the lead with a final game of 203 for a total of 1526. Perak leg champion and Asian Schools Team Gold medalist, Fatin Syazliana of Penang settled for second with 1517, just 8 pins further away.

SUKMA Trials Team Gold medalist, Irene Lee of Penang took third spot with 1500 ahead of Johor's Siti Shazwani in fourth spot with a total of 1431. Pyramid Youth's Melisa Lee rounded up the top 5 with 1414.

The top 16 boys and top 12 girls open made the cut for tomorrow's 6-game quarterfinals and at the end of which the top 8 boys and top 8 girls will proceed to the round-robin matchplay semifinals.

Pahang youth snatches Boy's Graded Stage 1 lead

5th May, K.Lumpur: Pahang youth, Hazwan Alias snatched the lead as the Boy's Graded Stage 1 two squads of the SportExcel-NSC-Milo-MTBC Junior Circuit ended Friday evening at Mega Lanes Endah Parade.

Hazwan, who competed in Squad B of the Boy's Graded division, posted 181, 199, 195, 236, 161, 211, 182 and 194 for an 8-game total of 1559 to steadily catch up with Squad A leaders, Abdul Qayyum of Penang and Syimir Abdul Razak of Pyramid Youth Team.

Abdul Qayyum and Syimir Abdul Razak tied for second spot, just 20 pins adrift on 1539 with Penang's Khoo Beng Khai and Mohd Iqbal Jaafar Sidek behind in fourth and fifth positions with 1536 and 1515 respectively. The top 48 boys from the two squads made the cut for tomorrow's 6-game quarterfinals. The top 8 at the end of the quarterfinals will proceed to the round-robin matchplay semifinals on Sunday, 7th May.

A total of 59 Girl's Graded youths entered for KL leg. Dina Nurnadia of Selangor grab top spot after the 8-game Stage 1 with 1462. The youngster shot to the front of the field from the halfway mark despite a sluggish first half.

Kuala Lumpur's Natasya Adam, the only other girl to surpass the 1400-mark, totaled 1426 to take up second ahead of Farah Zakiah Khairul Anuar of Pahang in third position with 1376. Nur Azlin Bte Abu Bakar finished a distant fourth with 1329.

Hurul Ainul Abu Razak completed the top five in fifth. The top 28 girls made the cut for tomorrow's 6-game quarterfinals. The top 8 at the end of the quarterfinals will proceed to the round-robin matchplay semifinals on Sunday, 7th May.
