In the sunny high noon, Malaysia's Syafiq Ridhwan walked tall in the Dream Bowl Palace.

The lanky Malaysian produced an awesome performance to finish as the Squad leader amidst a star-studded field of US PBA Pros in the likes of Mika Koivuniemi, Mike Fagan, Osku Palermaa, and Clara Guerrero. Syafiq's 1425 series total has earned him a 3rd place in the leader board and a direct entry into Finals Step #3 where 20 bowlers would fight for a top 8 position to proceed to a knock-out playing format Finals.

Playing in his fourth qualifying attempt, Syafiq Ridhwan gave an inspiring start; reeled off with a 9 spare and followed through with a string of 4 strikes and another 9 spare. Syafiq made slight adjustment on his approach and he stormed home with a pack of six strikes for a refreshing 258 game. Confidently, Syafiq continued with his immaculate releases to reel the lines of 247, 234, 210, 213. In his sixth game, Syafiq clinically blazed the lanes to romp home with eight consecutive strikes for a commendable 263 game and claimed the top spot as the Squad leader with 1425 series total. An elated Syafiq was beaming with pride when approached for comment on his performance.

Quoted "After 3 previous attempts, I was more confident on the lane approach and was able to make quick line adjustment. Thanks to Coach Holloway, who was helpful on his feedback on lanes condition". Perhaps, the dinner hosted by our Deputy President, Tan Sri Mohd Noor Rahim at the Indian Restaurant last night spiced up my game, commented Syafiq tongue in cheek.

team mate, Jacqueline Sijore made much improvement in her performance to perch precariously on 39th position. Jacqueline scorched the lanes with lines of 224, 180, 191, 267, 193 and 235 for a 1290 series total. With an handicap of 48 pins, Jacqueline has to wait for another 2 squads to complete to confirm her place in the Finals tomorrow.

At the time of writing, petite Zandra Aziela is still bowling her squad. Zandra had the Malaysian supporters cheering aloud as she reeled 9 consecutive strikes to complete her first game on 277.
