Malaysia’s Syafiq Ridhwan put up a scintillating performance to gear himself as a strong title contender for the Men’s Open crown this afternoon.  The lanky Malaysian was on track to reel the lines of 208, 236, 215, 215, 195, 211, 225, 236, 214, & 248 for a 2203 series total; finished second to board leader and home favorite, Wu Siu Hong by 8 pins.
Guided by coach, Ben Heng, Syafiq was quoted that he made a line change to bowl from the outside and that paid dividend to his game plan. “I intend to continue with my physical game approach for the Finals Stage 2 and strive to win the title for my newlywed brideâ€. |
Youngster, Adrian Ang who was leading the field after the third game, lost some momentum midway and finished 5th place. Adrian had a fiery start with lines of 248, 207, 222, 224, 209, 197, 181, 222, 200, & 196 for a 2106 series total. southpaw Alex Liew was erratic in his performance and succumbed to 25th place; cost him a place in the next round. Alex completed his 10 games series with 1888 total.
These four Team Malaysia bowlers shall join Nur Aiman in the Finals Stage 2 where another 10 games would decide the top 6 bowlers to proceed to the Step-Ladder Finals.
