MALAYSIANS REPRESENTED IN STEP-LADDER FINALS @ HONG KONG OPEN

Three Malaysian women ( Shalin Zulkifli, Esther Cheah & Zatil Iman) and one man (Muhd Nur Aiman) bowlers qualified for the Step -Ladder Finals at Hong Kong Bowling City which is scheduled to roll off at 2:30pm today.   Seasoned campaigner, Shalin Zulkifli was the leading contender till the 6th game before she surrendered the lead to board leader, Jazreel Tan of Singapore.   Shalin started off promisingly with lines of 217, 207, 225, 247, 265, 225 before a hiccup on 180, 195 and recovered with 205 & 246 for a commendable 2212 series total; averaged 221.2. Shalin finished 2nd to Jazreel by 61 pins.

Esther Cheah put up an improved performance to climb up into 3rd position. Esther bowled the lines of 243, 212, 215, 210, 158, 236, 230, 207 and stormed home strongly with 248 & 238 for a 2197 series total.

 

Malaysia's southpaw Zatil Iman gave a creditable account of herself to emerge 4th for a 2170 series total. Zatil scored 202, 195, 196, 202, 247, 212 and propelled a 279, 230, 199 & 208.

 

Petite Zandra Aziela faded in her last two games to end on 9th place with 2076 series total; whilst Siti Safiyah gave a subdued performance to place 17th position with 1933 series total.

 

An under performed southpaw, Sharon Koh could not lift her physical game and settled for a low 19th place with 1838 series total.

 

In the Men's Open division, Muhd Nur Aiman was the toast of the Malaysian team as he consistently reeled the lines of 233, 237, 200, 201, 224, 230, 226, 202, 226 & 220 for a 2199 series total, averaged 219.9.

 

Aaron Kong missed the cut by 14 pins and earned the consolation to place 11th; followed by Adrian Ang on 13th place with 2113 series total; 16th placed Zulmazran Zulkifli with 2090 series total and lanky Syafiq Ridhwan finished 19th with 2060 series total.
