In the title match, top seed, Shamsul Riza was on track to clinch the title after making a turkey strike from the 8th frame onwards. However, after hitting a solid pocket to see ring 10 pin standing, Shamsul coolly stepped up to the approach for his would be winning spare. Much to the astonishment of the cheering crowd, his weak delivery saw the ball gradually glided into the gutter. Thus, challenger, Tan Hock Seng was given a lease of life when he delivered a strike against a 8 pin count in a one ball tie breaker to force a sudden death game.

Unperturbed, Shamsul bombarded with a turkey to lead the race. However, a costly 3 pins spare miss allowed Tan Hock Seng to over take the lead with a double strikes on 5th & 6th frames, spared on the 7th and reeled a turkey to shut off a late challenge by Shamsul. Tan Hock Seng was then declared the champion with a 222-199 margin victory.
