HORNBILLS MISFIRED @ WYC 2012
Â

It was a thrilling encounter in the Girls Doubles Semi-Finals match between top seed Dayang Khairuniza & Jacqueline Sijore of Malaysia and 4th seed Kim Seon Jeong & Hwang Yeon Ju of Korea this afternoon. Both pairs fought frame by frame and by the half way mark, our Malaysian pair was ahead by 1 frame lead.
Jacqueline Sijore pumped up her ante to reel a 4 bagger after adjusting her move inside. The Korean camp saw the move and emulated likewise to catch up. Dayang was unfortunate to saw her 1-3 pocket delivery resulted in a 7-10 split.
Â
The extravaganza battle went down to the wire. Both pairs rallied with identical double strikes on 9th & 10th frames. However, our Malaysian pair spared home while the Singles Gold medalist, Kim Seon Jeong stormed home with 5 consecutive strikes to claim a Final berth for Korea on a 425-411 margin.
Â
A frustrated and tearful Jacqueline felt it was a case of so near yet so far syndrome."Perhaps after collecting Silver & Bronze medals by our team, our next medal should be Gold, said Jac, tongue in cheek.
Â
Currently, Jacqueline Sijore is leading the All-Events standing with 2567 pin-falls; followed by Korea's Hwang Yeon Ju with 2565. Singles Silver medalist, Hee Kar Yen is placed 5th with 2508; Dayang Khairuniza is placed 7th with 2478 and Sin Li Jane made up on 22nd place with 2364. The top 24 bowlers shall proceed to the Masters' Finals.
