TWIN sisters Siti Aishajan and Siti Aishatun Hussin enjoyed podium finishes in the Sukma bowling trios event at the Kuantan Megalanes yesterday.
While Aishajan combined with Alexandria Edith John and Steffira Zeandea Greater to grab the gold medal with 3,614 pinfalls after six games, Aishatun partnered Dzuriani Zulkiplee and Nabilah Kassim for the bronze medal (3386). |
Johor's Sharifah Nur Fatimah Syed Hussein, Norasikin Maulad Nor Azman and Nurul Atiqah Ahmad took the silver medal (3397).
It doesn't matter to us who gets the gold. What matters is that we delivered Sabah's first gold medal in bowling.
Hopefully, there is another one to come in the team events, said Aishatun, the younger of the twins.
Bowling on short oil condition in the first block, the Sabah girls were in stunning form to take the provisional lead.
But Alexandria found it hard to get going on the long oil condition in the second block.
She was struggling a bit ... so we covered for each other as the game progressed, said Steffira, who is a trainee in the national youth squad.
Selangor secured their first gold medal in the men's competition after the trio of Mohd Zharif Hashim, Mohd Amirul Afiff Mohd Nasir and Mohd Hafiz Fikri Zainol Abidin knocked down 3,830 pins.
Federal Territories' Syimir Abdul Razak, Timmy Tan and Mohd Rafiq Ismail took the silver medal (3718) Kedah's Noor Afizal Azizan, Ahmad Muaz Fishol and Mohd Amirul Che Amat settled for the bronze medal (3,712).
