ESTHER STAMPED HER MARK @ DAEJEON INTERNATIONAL 2012

Malaysia's Esther Cheah staged a late rally to storm home with a remarkable 279 last game and earned herself a spot in the Step-ladder Finals of the It's Daejeon International Championship 2012 at Daejeon World Cup Bowling Stadium. The Live TV Finals is scheduled to bowl at 9:00am tomorrow.

 

Esther who had a horrendous start with a poor 127 opening game, inched up with lines of 177, 216, 215, 257, 183, 179, and 209. On her 9th game, Esther coolly delivered strike by strike to reel 9 consecutive strikes. On the 10th frame, Esther made a solid 1-3 pocket delivery to just watch the 10 pin stood unscathed.

 

The accumulated score of 1842, averaged 204.7 placed Esther on 4th position in the field of 45 bowlers to proceed to the top 5 Step-ladder Finals format.

In the Step-ladder Finals, Esther Cheah would be bowling against joint 4th seed, Kang Hyun Jin of Korea National Team and 3rd seed Lee Jeon Ji of Korea for a proceeding match against 2nd seed, Son Yun Hee, ex- national bowler of Korea. Top seed is Lee Na Young of Daejeon Bowling Congress.

 

Meanwhile, Jacqueline Sijore finished a distant 23rd placing with 1724 series total; Siti Safiyah ended on 33rd placing with 1656 series total while Sin Li Jane finished a dismal 43rd position.

 

In the Men's division, Zulmazran Zulkifli was the only Malaysian to make the cut for the top 24 bowlers Stage #2 Finals yesterday.

 

In today Finals Stage #2, Zulmazran gave a promising start with a huge 252 opening game. However, in his subsequent games, Zulmazran could not lift up his tempo and had to be contended with lines of 194, 175, 191, 214, & 190 for a 3127 series total to end on 18th position; ahead of US OBA Pro bowlers in Mike Fagan and Ronnie Russel.
