PLAYING RULES
All
MTBC and FIQ playing rules and regulations shall apply.
SANCTIONING
This tournament is sanctioned by MTBC and FIQ-WTBA (Asian Zone).
ELIGIBILITY
This Tournament is open to all current paid up members of Affiliates of MTBC (74).
AVERAGES
Only official
averages of MTBC and FIQ affiliates will be used. Outstation/Overseas bowlers must produce written confirmation of their averages from their respective Associations or Congress. All bowlers who have no established averages shall bowl in the Open Grade unless recommended by the Tournament Directors to bowl in a specific grade (i.e. A/B). However, the Tournament Committee reserves the right to review case by case as the tournament progresses.
REGISTRATION FEES
Each participant must complete and submit a registration form for his/her relevant Grade (Open and Graded) accompanied by the relevant fees. A graded bowler amy also compete in a higher grade(s). E.g. a bowler in Grade B may compete in Grade A as well as in the Open Division. Bowlers from higher grade will not be eleigible to play in any of the lower grades.
It is compulsory for every bowler to submit his/her registration form with the relevant fees before his/her first attempt in the Masters Qualifying Event (MQ), failing which, the scores achieved shall be declared null and void.
Registration Fees for Men/Women (Open & Graded) RM100.00 per bowler (one time payment).
Registration Fees for Youth Open RM50.00 per bowler (one time only).
Each registered participant will be entitled to:
a) An invitation to the Victory Dinner
b) A Souvenir of the torunament
SQUAD TIMES
If preferred squad times indicated on the entry forms are not available, the Tournament Directors or their assistants reserve the right to reallocate squad times at their discretion. Should there be vacant squads during this period, announcements will be made for local bowlers to fill up the squad on a first come first basis.
NOTE: Any bowler who does not turn up personally 5 minutes before their confirmed squad time will be replaced and no refund will be entertained.
SUBSTITUTIONS
Substitutions may be allowed provided it is reported to one of the Tournament Directors or their assistants 30 minutes before the confirmed squad time.
CHANGE OF TIME SQUAD (MQ)
Change of time squad for Masters Qualifying may be permitted provided it is reported to the Tournament Directors of their assistants on duty.
SINGLES
This event will be the basis of qualifying for the Masters inals. Each entry will be RM60.00. Each attempt shall consist of a 6 game series. No bowler may win more than one prize in the Singles event although multiple entries are permitted. Youth Singles will be RM40.00.
HIGH GAME
High game awards will be given to the highest game bowled in their respective grades throughout the entire championship BUT
NOT THE MASTER FINALS ROLL-OFF.
HIGH SERIES
High series awards will be given to
the highest 3 games bowled in ONE PAIR OF LANES in their respective grades BUT NOT THE MASTER FINALS ROLL-OFF.
VERIFICATION OF SCORE
It is the responsibility of each bowler to ensure that the correct score of each game bowled is recorded in the official score sheet by signing on the official score sheet which will be used as the official score record. Once signed, the score shall stand unless otherwise decided by the Tournament Committee. If the official score sheet is not signed for any reason, the Tournament Directors reserve the right to refuse acceptance of the scores.
REGISTRATION OF BOWLING BALLS
Illegality and Disqualification: All balls used in the Tournament must be registered with the Tournament
Office and be certified as legal for weight and other specifications. The onus is on the bowler to ensure that all balls he/she uses are certified legal as above. If at any time a bowler is found to have used an illegal ball the bowler shall be disqualified from the entire Tournament and stripped of all his/her winnings or positions standing and if the Tournament Committee is of the opinion that such usage was deliberate and was intended to cheat, the bowler may be further reported to the MTBC Disciplinary Committee for additional penalization.
The bowler may also be asked to return immediately to one of the Tournament Directors any awards that may have already been given to him/her.
REFUNDS
No refund of entry fees will be made after any entry/entries has/have been registered and accepted. Any participant who fails to show up and/or is late for the scheduled squad will be disqualified from participation in that squad and the entry fees forfeited.
TIE BREAKING PROCEDURE
Should a tie occur in the High Game, High Series and the first 5 positions in the Singles, co-winners shall be declared. Should a tie(s) occur in the last qualifying position of the respective Masters Qualifying Results, the tie breaker shall be determined by a one-game roll-off. Should there still be a tie, then the 9th and 10th frame roll-off shall be used and/or repeated until the tie is broken.
SLOW BOWLING
Bowlers who are in readiness to step on the approach to deliver a ball, shall have the following rights and obligations:
a) They may claim the right of way only over anyone moving to the approach or preparing to bowl on the lane immediately on their left.
b) They will give way to any bowler who is moving towards the approach or preparing to bowl on the lane immediately on their right.
c) Bowlers will get ready to bowl when it is their turn and shall not delay going to the approach, if the lanes immediately adjacent to them on the left and right sides are clear.
d) If a bowler does not observe the procedure outlined in (a), (b) and (c) of this rule, he/she shall be warned by the Tournament Director of his appointed official on duty with a yellow card (no penalty), and a yellow card again for the second offence (no penalty). For the third offence and each succeeding offence thereafter in a block of game, the bowler shll be shown the red card and shall be given a zero pinfall for the frame.
DRESS CODE (BOWLER'S ATTIRE)
Bowlers are required to be properly and appropriately dressed for bowling. If in the opinion of the Tournament Director or Tournament Committee on duty a bowler is not properly and appropriately dressed, he/she may not be permitted to bowl.
BOWLING ON WRONG LANE
a) When only bowler or the lead-off bowler has/have bowled on the wrong lane(s), and the error is discovered before another bowler has bowled, a dead ball shall be declared and the bowler(s) will be required to re-bowl on the correct lane(s).
b) When more than one bowler on the same pair of lanes have bowled on the wrong lane, the game shall be completed without adjustment and the next game shall be started on the correctly scheduled lane.
PROTESTS
a) Eligibility: Protest (involving eligibility) must be submitted in writing to the Tournament Director or Tournament Committee on duty within 24 hours of the time of the alleged infringement.
b) Scores: Errors in scoring or errors in calculation will be corrected by the Tournament Officials immediatley upon discovery of such errors. Protests involving errors in scoring will only be entertained if such protests are brought to the attention of the Tournament Director on the spot.
c) Fouls: Must be brought to the attention of the Lane Marshal before the delivery of the next ball. No protests will be entertained after the bowler has made his/her second delivery of the frame.
d) No Protest: No protests will be entertained after the presentation of prizes.
NOTES
Any matters arising and not covered in these Tournament Rules will be decided by the Tournament Chairman, the Tournament Directors or the Tournament Committee whose decision shall be final subject only to appeal to the MTBC Council. Such appeal should be made in writing and within 48 hours of the decision by any of the above.
Notwithstanding the above, an appeal FOR THE DECISION OF THE MTBC may still be lodged with the FIQ-WTBA Asian Zone but through MTBC and within 30 days of MTBC Council's decision.

YOUTH MASTERS FINALS - YOUTH A
This event is open to bowlers who are 22 years of age as at 1st January 1999. The top 12 qualifiers based on a 6 games series will be listed on the Championships' Result Board from the start of the qualifying till 3.20 pm Squad on May 14, 1999. The finalists will roll-off 10 games in the Finals on Saturday, May 15 at 9.30am. Finals Fees: RM80.00.
YOUTH MASTERS FINALS - YOUTH OPEN
This event is open to bowlers who are 22 years of age as at 1st January 1999. The top 16 qualifiers based on a 6 games series will be listed on the Championships' Result Board from the start of the qualifying till 3.20 pm Squad on May 14, 1999. The finalists will roll-off 10 games in the Finals on Saturday, May 15 at 9.30am. Finals Fees: RM100.00.
GRADED B MASTERS FINALS - MEN
This event is open to all Men Graded B bowlers with an average of 175 and below. The top 24 qualifiers will bowl 15 games in the Finals on Saturday, May 15, at 12.00noon. Final fees: RM220.00.
GRADED A MASTERS FINALS - LADIES
This event is open to all Ladies Graded A bowlers with an average of 175 and below. The top 12 qualifiers will bowl 12 games in the Finals on Saturday, May 15, at 12.00noon. Final fees: RM150.00.
GRADED A MASTERS FINALS - MEN
This event is open to all Men Graded A bowlers with an average of 190 and below. The top 30 qualifiers will bowl 15 games in the Finals on Saturday, May 15, at 8.00pm. Final fees: RM220.00.
OPEN MASTERS - LADIES (SEMI FINALS)
The 18 semi-finalists will roll-off in the Open Masters Semi Finals consisting of 10 games on Saturday, May 15, at 4.00pm. The top 12 bowlers based on total pinfalls will go into the Finals. Finals fees: RM250.00
OPEN MASTERS - MEN (SEMI FINALS)
The 36 semi-finalists will roll-off in the Open Masters Semi Finals consisting of 10 games on Saturday, May 15, at 4.00pm. The top 16 bowlers based on total pinfalls will go into the Finals. Finals fees: RM280.00
OPEN MASTERS FINALS (MEN & LADIES)
The 16 Men Finalists and 12 Ladies Finalists will bowl as follows in their respective division:
Each bowler shall draw for position in his/her schedule. Standings shall be based on total pins from each of the matches together with a bonus of 10 pins for each match won. Each bowler shall receive a bonus of 5 pins for a tie.
A finalist who fails to check in at the stipulated time or who withdraws for any reasons after Finals have begun shall be replaced immediately by a 'pacer'. Where a pacer is used as above, all Finalists who play a pacer shall be given a 5 pin bonus.
The top 3 bowlers from the Finals with the highest pinfalls including bonus points shall advance to the Step-Ladder Grand Final.
OPEN MASTERS STEP-LADDER GRAND FINALS (MEN & LADIES)
In the Open Master Step-Ladder Grand Finals, the format will be as follows:
A Step-Ladder of one game matches (bowled match play style) among the top 3 bowlers from the Masters Finals, starting from scratch pinfall basis.
The 3rd placed bowler will meet the 2nd placed bowler in a one-game roll-off. The winner of this match will proceed to meet the 1st bolwer in a two-game total pinfalls. The winner of the two games roll-off will be declared the Champion.
REPORTING TIME
ALL MASTERS FINALISTS MUST CHECK IN PERSONALLY 15 MINUTES OR EARLIER BEFORE THEIR RESPECTIVE ROLL-OFF TIMES. RESERVES WILL BE CALLED 15 MINUTES BEFORE THE ROLL-OFF TIME.
