LAND & GENERAL-MSSM INTER-SCHOOL LEAGUE

The Land & General-MSSM Inter-school League 1999 was launched by YB Dato' Khalid Yunus, Deputy Minister of Education, Malaysia on the 26th March, 1999 at 10.00am, Pyramid Bowl, Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya. It was also attended by YBhg. Datuk Abdul Karim Ahmad Tarmizi, CEO of Land & General Berhad, the main sponsor and organiser of this league and Mr George Heng, Vice President of MTBC, the co-sponsor. Representatives from MSSM, the co-organiser, Nestle-Milo, the co-sponsor, the school representatives and the school bowling team, and members of the press.

Marking the launch, a special one-game event was held which consisted of 28 schools. One bowler from each school partnered members of the Malaysian National Team. The champion of this special event was SMK Bukit Bintang Boys partnering Shalin Zulkifli (425 pinfalls), 2nd was SMK Bukit Jalil partnering Mustafa Yassin (413 pinfalls) and 3rd was SMK Seafield partnering Gerald Samuel (399 pinfalls).

The league consist of 30 schools from Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Klang, Seremban and as far as Johor. It will commence on the 3rd April at 2.00pm and will run every Saturday for 29 weeks. Winners will receive cash prizes, bowling balls and bags kindly donated by Land & General, Pyramid Bowl, and Sentosa Bowl. Weekly prizes will also be given to winners of the weekly High Game, High Series, High Game plus handicap and High Series with handicap by Nestle-Milo.
