WORLD-CLASS BOWLERS FOR THE 24TH MAS MALAYSIAN
INTERNATIONAL OPEN BOWLING CHAMPIONSHIP 2001

The Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress (MTBC) announced today that there will be a pool of world-class bowlers participating in this year’s 24th MAS Malaysian International Open Bowling Championship 2001 from the 20th - 31st March, 2001.

"The championship is being held at the Sunway Pyramid Bowl, Sunway Lagoon Resorts which was the venue for CGU Asian Bowling Tour Grand Slam Finals event.

Current World Cup champions, Ahmed Shaheen and Amanda Bradley of Australia, World FIQ Ladies Masters champion, Ann-Murray Putney of Australia, European and Asian Zone FIQ championships are all invited to participate. Our national bowlers, Kenny Ang, the Commonwealth Games Singles and Doubles Gold medalist, 1st Runner-up in the Asian Bowling Tour Grand Slam Finals and Commonwealth Games Doubles Gold medalist Ben Heng and Lai Kin Ngoh, Commonwealth Games Singles Silver medalist, Asian Bowling Tour 1998 Grand Slam Finals champion, Sarah Yap will be pitching their skills againgst these world-class bowlers on home ground.

The championship’s sponsors are Malaysia Airlines, Sunway Lagoon Resorts (official hotel), Antioni, Ebonite and Pyramid Bowl (venue).

The CGU Asian Bowling Tour 2001 first leg, the Malaysia Masters Cup will be held on the 1st - 2nd April, 2001.

The top 14 Asian men and women bowlers from each Open Men and Ladies Masters event of the 23rd Malaysian Open will qualify for the Masters Cup. Each participant will gain Tour Ranking points according to their positions.


PERFECT GAME AWARD

RM 50,000.00 Cash sponsored by CGU
The Award will be shared if more than one bowler score a Perfect Game of 300 during the Tournament. Another Perfect Game Award of RM50,000.00 Cash will also be up for grab during the CGU Asian Bowling Tour - Malaysia on April 1 & 2


SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP

For Men bowlers aged 45 & above and Women bowlers aged 40 & above as at January 1, 2001.
Walk-in Finals on March 25 (Sunday) at 7.00pm (Check-in: 6.30pm)
Registration is required with Entry Fee RM 150.00
Closing Date : March 18
8 Games roll-off in the Finals with Handicap based on the following averages for men bowlers only.

Average 191 & above     - 0 Handicap
Average 186 - 190       - 5 pins
Average 180 - 185       - 10 pins
Average 179 & below     - 15 pins
