PETALING JAYA: Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman has qualified for the top four stepladder finals of the PWBA Players Championship in the United States.

The 27-year-old finished the three-day gruelling 36-game contest at the Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley in Wisconsin in third spot with a grand total of 7,968 pinfalls on Saturday.

American trio Kelly Kulick (8,064), Lindsay Boomershine (8,042) and Liz Johnson (7,966) are the other three finalists to feature in Sunday’s title showdown.

Siti will take on fourth seed Johnson in the opening match with the winner advance to play second seed Boomershine for a place in the final against top seed Kulick. Siti is assured of taking home no less than US$3,000 (RM12,860) by reaching the stepladder stage.

It will be Siti’s second championship round appearance on the PWBA Tour having also qualified as second seed to compatriot Sin Li Jane at the Wichita Open three weeks ago.

Li Jane, who finished 11th in Wisconsin, is also the top seed for the Lincoln Open. The duo will bid to become the first Malaysians to win in the prestigious Tour.

The televised finals of the three Opens – Wichita, Lincoln and Greater Detroit – will also be held on Sunday.

The Players Championship is the fourth and final event of the national team’s one month playing stint in the US.

Syaidatul Afifah Badrul Hamidi, Esther Cheah and Shalin Zulkifli ended their campaign in seventh, 12th and 17th respectively. Natasha Roslan was the only player who failed to make the top 18 cut on Friday.
