| Rules and Regulations |
- DATE AND VENUE:
DATE: January 11-13, 2006
VENUE: Pyramid Megalanes, Sunway Pyramid, Bandar Sunway
- RULES AND REGULATIONS
- Eligibility: All participants must be paid up members of their respective State Association affiliated to MTBC. Participants in the Youth section must be 21 years 364 days and below on 1st January 2005.
- Composition of Team: Each State shall be represented by a team of four (4) MEN, four (4) Women, four (4) Boys and four (4) Girls.
- Style of Play: Each game shall be bowled on a pair of lanes. Team and /or individual shall successively and in regular order bowl one frame on one lane, and for the next frame alternate and use the adjoining lane, so alternating each frame until five frames are bowled on each lane, completing the game. When any question arises as to who of any two bowlers shall bowl first, it is incumbent upon the bowler on the right to do so.
- Competition Event: The Men, Women and Youth shall compete in separate division but the schedule of events shall be the same for all as follows:
- SINGLES - SIX (6) games
- DOUBLES - SIX (6) games
- TEAM OF 4 - SIX (6) games in two blocks.
- ALL-EVENTS- Total score of Singles, Doubles & Teams.
- INDIVIDUAL MASTERS FINALS
Top 3 Men, top 3 Women, top 3 Youth Boys and top 3 Youth Girls based on total pinfalls on the foregoing 18 games from the Singles, Doubles and Team of Four, will automatically qualify to play in the National Championship Masters Finals on January 15 & 16, 2006.
- CONDUCT OF EVENT:
- SINGLES: Open to all members of each Squad. Six (6) games across twelve lanes in one block with two persons from the same State, when feasible, scheduled per lane. Each game shall be played on a different pair of lanes.
- DOUBLES: Six (6) games in one block across twelve (12) lanes, each game to be played on a different pair of lanes.
- TEAM of FOUR: Six games in two blocks across twelve (12) lanes, each game to be played on a different pair of lanes.
- MASTERS FINALS: Refer to 30th National Championship Masters Finals format.
- REGISTRATION OF BOWLING BALLS
No registration of bowling balls will be conducted during the Championship. All participants must make sure that bowling balls used in the championship must have been checked prior to arriving at the venue, for verification for correctness of weight and other specification conforming to MTBC rules and regulations. Participants bowling with illegal bowling balls may have their scores declared null and void.
- INTERRUPTED GAMES
The Tournament Director may authorize the competition of a game and series on another pair of lanes when equipment failure on the starting lanes would delay the normal progress of the series. An interrupted game and series which cannot be completed on the same date must resume from the point of interruption.
- BOWLING ON WRONG LANE
- When only one (1) player on the lead-off men on both teams bowl on a wrong lane and the error is discovered before another player has bowled, a dead ball shall be declared and the player(s) required to rebowl on the correct lane(s).
- When more than one (1) player on the same team has bowled on the wrong lane, the game shall be completed without adjustment and the next game shall be started on a correctly scheduled lane.
- AWARDS
Games awards of Gold, Silver and Bronze shall be presented to first, second and third place to the following events: -
* SINGLES
* DOUBLES
* TEAM OF FOUR
*ALL-EVENTS
Points will be awarded to the winners' State base on the following: -
* Gold Medalist - 5 points
* Silver Medalist - 3 points
* Bronze Medalist - 2 points
* 4th Placing - 1 point
- TIE BREAKING PROCEDURES:
The player or team with the highest score in the game shall be the winner.
- When equal score ties are registered for any of the first three (3) positions in the Team of four, Doubles, Singles and All-Events, co-champions or co-winners shall be declared. There shall be no play-off of the tie. Teams or players with equal scores will get the same medals and the next position will get, in case of a tie for first position, bronze medal, and in case of a tie for the second or third position, no medals at all.
- When a tie occurs for last placed (3rd position) masters finalists in the all-events total, a one game roll-off shall be held to determine the positions.
- If a tie shall exists in 2.10.2 after the tiebreaker, the ninth and tenth frame roll-off will be utilized and/or repeated until the tie is broken.
- SLOW BOWLING
Bowlers who are in readiness to step on the approach or preparing to bowl on the lane immediately on their left.
- They may claim right of way over anyone moving to the approach or preparing to bowl on the lane immediately on their left.
- They may claim right of way over anyone moving to the approach or preparing to bowl on the lane immediately on their right.
- Players shall be ready to bowl when it is their turn should not delay to go to the approach, if a lane immediately adjacent to them on the left and right side is clear.
- Penalty will be imposed to bowler/s who is four (4) frames (for Singles, Doubles and Masters events), and two (2) frames (for Team event) slower from the leader not counting the end pairs of lanes. The penalty will be to forfeit the score in the next frame.
- PLAYING UNIFORM
All participants in the games shall wear a standard uniform with the name of their respect States printed at the back of the shirt. Individual variations to that are not permitted and each member of a women's team must be uniformed in slacks or in skirts during an event, and not a combination of both. The skirts and/or pants worn by the individual State Bowlers must be of same colour.
- CODE NUMBERS AND LANE
Code numbers shall be drawn according to States and shall follow a pre-drawn schedule for lane assignments.
- SUBMISSION OF LINE-UP
All final line-ups must be submitted to the Tournament Director(s) on the day before the event is held.
- PROHIBITION
The players must not smoke, eat, consume alcohol or be under the influence of alcohol while in competition; i.e. during the entire period of his block of games. In those instances where it is established that a player is in breach of the rule, the Tournament Director may refer him to the Technical Committee for suspension from the tournament for the series of games then being played. Non alcoholic beverages are allowed provided they are not consumed in the player's area.
Any alternation of the surface of bowling balls during a block of games including of warm-up will not be permitted.
- PROTEST - ELIGIBILITY:
Protests involving the eligibility or general playing rules must be confirmed in writing to a responsible Tournament official not later than 24 hours after the game in which the infraction occurred. If no written protest is entered prior to the expiration of the 24 hours period, the game shall stand as bowled. Each protest under this rule must be specific in itself and this rule shall not be construed to cover a similar or previous violation.
- PROTEST - ERROR:
Errors in scoring or errors in calculation in tournament play must be corrected by a responsible tournament official immediately upon the discovery of such error. Questionable errors shall be decided upon by the Tournament Committee. The time limit for filing protests on scoring errors shall be one (1) hour from the end of the event or block of games for each day in the tournament, but must be before the prize presentation or the commencement of the next round (in an elimination event) whichever is sooner. Each protest under this rule must be specific in itself and this rule shall not be construed to cover a previous or similar violation.
- ALTERING OF BOWLING BALL SURFACE
Altering the surface of bowling balls during competition is prohibited. Competition is defined as all games in a block, as well as the warm-up practice immediately preceding the block.
- MATTERS NOT PROVIDED FOR:
Any matters not provided for in these rules and regulations shall be governed by MTBC general playing rules and regulations.
