The National Council for the Blind, Malaysia will be hosting the 2nd Asian Tenpin Bowling Championship for the Blind 2005 from the 10th - 14th November, 2005 at Pyramid Megalanes, assisted by the malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress.
The 1st edition of the championship was held in Tokyo, Japan and the International Blind Sports Association has awarded Malaysia to host this prestigious event.
Seven countries, namely Chinese Taipei, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Wester Australia and host, Malaysia will be competing with a total of 56 bowlers and 18 officials.
The bowlers are classified into a "3-Class System":
- B1 - No light perception in either eye up to light perception but inability to recognize the shape of a hand at any distance or in any direction
- B2 - From ability to recognize the shape of a hand up to a visual acuity of 2/60 and/or visual of less than 5 degrees.
- B3 - From visual acuity above 2/60 up to visual acuity of 6/60 and/or a visual field of more than 5 degrees and less 20 degrees.
The B1 division will bowl Singles over 6 games on a single lane assisted by lane rail guides while B2 and B3 will bowl their 6 games without any guides. All divisions will bowl in the Doubles over 6 games on a pair of lanes while the B1 bowlers will bowl on a single lane. |
