| Sarawak retains Overall Champion crown |
30th November, Kuching: Sarawak retained the overall champion crown with 10 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals at the concluding 2nd Borneo Games at Riverside Superbowl with victory in the Men's Masters finals. |
 |
The Men's Masters on the final day turned out to be a nail-biting experience for the Sarawak supporters when Norhazaidi Tahir, who was leading Kalimantan Timur's Aswin Archy Saputra after the 10th game of the 12-game round-robin finals by 23 pins, lost the lead to trail Aswin by 51 pins going into the position round match.
But with the supporters firmly behind the Sarawakian, Norhazaidi overcomed Aswin winning the match, 259-191 and earning the 10 points bonus for the win to end the finals with 2566, 27 pins ahead for the gold medal. Aswin settled for the silver medal with 2539.
All Events gold medalist, Isaac Russell Paul stormed home with 267 in his final match to clinch the bronze medal on 2521, just 18 pins adrift while Johanes of Kalimantan Timur finished fourth with 2415. |

Sarawak almost had a perfect ending to the championship in the Women's Masters finals had crowd favourite and 4 gold medalist, Dayang Khairuniza been able to snatch the gold medal.

With second-seed, Therese Sipaul of Sabah just 7 pins behind the leader, a victory by the Sabahan could also see her emerged as the champion but if Khairuniza could beat her opponent in the final match by a massive game, Khairuniza could also have taken the victory.
But Yulisetyowati put in a superb match to defeat Therese 245-202 and |
