Rules and Regulations
  1. ORGANIZATION AND SANCTION: This International Bowling Championship is organized by Persatuan Tenpin Bowling Pulau Pinang and sanctioned by MTBC and Asian Bowling Federation. WTBA Playing Rules and Regulations shall apply on matters not covered herein.
  2. ELIGIBILITY: All current PTBPP members, MTBC affiliates of good standing and foreign bowlers accredited by their respective Congress/Federation/Association are eligible to participate in this championship.
  3. AVERAGES: Only official averages of MTBC will be used and an entrant who has no established average prior to the cut off date as at 1st January 2002 must use an average of 190 for Men and 180 for Ladies. Outstation / overseas bowlers must produce written confirmation of their averages from their respective Associations or Congresses.
  4. REFUND: No refund shall be made after an entry has been registered and accepted. A participant who fails to show up and/or is late for the scheduled squad shall be disqualified from participation in that squad and the entry fee forfeited.
  5. REGISTRATION FEE: Bowlers must play in their respective Grades or in the higher one. Bowler from a higher Grade will be ineligible to play in any of lower Grade. Registration fee: RM80.00 inclusive of Victory Banquet and souvenir.
  6. SINGLES: 4 games will be bowled in this event. Bowlers will be allowed unlimited attempts but may win only one prize in the event. RM60.00 per attempt.
  7. VERIFICATION OF SCORES: It is the responsibility of each bowler and/or the team captain to verify the correctness of each game bowled by signing on the official entry form of each event. Once signed, the score shall stand, unless otherwise decided by the Tournament Committee.
  8. TIES: In the event of a tie in the Masters' Qualifying event, the bowler with the higher game shall be the winner. If this still ends in a tie, the next high game will be counted, and this will be repeated until the tie is broken.

    In the event of a tie that affect the award of prizes, the prizes will be shared equally among the co-winners.
  9. CHEATING: Any bowler found guilty of cheating at scores, averages eligibility or in any other counts will be immediately disqualified from the entire tournament and reported to the Disciplinary Committee of the MTBC for further action. He/She will also be stripped of his/her winnings and positions standing and be asked to return to the Tournament Directors any awards that may have already been given to him/her. When in doubt, bowlers are reminded to consult with the Tournament Directors on any issues.
  10. BOWLER'S ATTIRE: Bowlers are required to be properly and appropriately dressed for bowling. If, in the opinion of the Tournament Director a bowler is not appropriately dressed, he may not be permitted to bowl. Male bowlers are not allowed to wear sleeveless shirts and/or shorts.
  11. PROTEST:
    1. Scores: Must be submitted in writing to the Tournament Directors or their Assistants within 1 hour of the event. In the case of the Masters Event, such protests, if any, should be made to the same official before official results are made known. No protest made after official results will be entertained.
    2. Foul: Must be brought to the attention of the Lane Marshall before the delivery of the next ball. No complaints made after the 2nd ball has been bowled shall be entertained.
    3. Eligibility: Must be submitted in writing to either the Tournament Directors or their Assistants within 24 hours of the first infringement or before the next round whichever is earlier.
  12. LOSS OF SCORES DURING BLACK-OUTS: In the event that the TV monitor black out in the progress of a game and it cannot be traced, bowler(s) will have to bowl that particular game all over. However, previous games where the score have been recorded shall stand unchanged.
  13. REGISTRATION OF BOWLING BALLS: All participants are advised to check their bowling balls used in the Tournament are certified legal for weight and other specifications before they compete in their events. The onus is on the bowler to ensure that all balls he/she uses are certified legal as above.

    If at any time a bowler is found to have used an illegal ball even if previously certified legal by the Tournament Office, he/she shall be disqualified from the entire tournament and stripped off all his/her winnings or positions standing.
  14. INTERPRETATION CLAUSE:The Tournament Director reserves the right to accept or reject any entry as he deems fit.

    Any matter arising that is not covered in the Tournament Rules shall be decided by the Tournament Director. The Tournament Committee decision shall be final.
Masters Event

This event is open to those bowlers who have competed and completed the Singles event in their respective Grades.

  1. Each MQ attempt will be RM60.00. Youth MQ attempt will be RM40.00.
  2. All qualifiers must check with the Tournament Director 24 hours before their fixtures and/or to check for any changes in the schedule.

Note : All the above top Qualifiers based on four (4) games series will be listed on the Championship Results Board from the start of the Qualifying till the last squad on Thursday 19th December 2002 at 20:40hr ; except Youth Boys & Girls till the 15:20hr squad on Wednesday 18th December 2002.
Masters Event - Category

  1. MILO YOUTH MASTERS - BOYS & GIRLS (OPEN & GRADED)
    This event is open to bowlers who are below 21 years of age as at 01st January 2002. The top 15 Boys and top 10 Girls Finalists of each category will be based on a four (4) games series (RM40.00 per attempt) and be listed on the Championship Results Board from the start of the Qualifying till the last squad at 15:20hr on 18th December 2002. The Finalists will bowl ten (10) games each on the Final at 09:30am on Thursday 19th December 2002. Note: Youth Graded division is for Malaysian bowlers only. Games Fee : RM80.00.
  2. LADIES GRADED MASTERS
    This event is open to all lady bowlers with average less than 180. The top 16 Qualifiers will bowl twelve (12) games in the Finals on Friday 20th December 2002 at 9:30am. Games Fee : RM150.00.
  3. MEN'S GRADED "B" MASTERS
    This event is open to all Men's Graded "B" bowlers with an average less than 176. The top 24 Qualifiers will bowl twelve (12) games in the Finals on Friday 20th December 2002 at 9:30am. Games Fee : RM150.00.
  4. MEN'S GRADED "A" MASTERS
    This event is open to all Men's Graded "A" bowlers with an average less than 190. The top 24 Qualifiers will bowl twelve (12) games in the Finals on Friday 20th December 2002 at 6:30pm. Games Fee : RM180.00.
  5. SIN HUP HUAT MEN'S / LADIES SENIOR MASTERS
    This event is open to all male aged 45 years old and female bowlers aged 40 years old. The top 16 Men's & 10 Ladies bowlers will bowl 8 games in the Finals on Thursday 19th December 2002 at 6:00pm. Games Fee : RM120.00.
  6. MEN'S OPEN / LADIES' OPEN MASTERS
    This event is open to all male and female bowlers. Games Fee : RM250.00

    SEMI-FINALS:- Friday 20th December 2002 at 2:00pm.
    The top qualifiers of both divisions, together with their respective Defending Champions will roll-off 10 games. The top 12 Men's and top 10 Ladies' bowlers with the highest pinfalls in their respective divisions after 10 games will proceed to the Finals.

    FINALS:- Saturday 21st December 2002 at 9:30 am.
    The top 12 qualifiers from the Men's & top 10 qualifiers from the Ladies' divisions from the SEMI-FINALS will proceed to a Round Robin on a one-game matches plus a position round among themselves, starting from accumulated score from Semi-Finals with special points system as follows:
    a) 10 pins for a win;
    b) 5 pins for a draw.

    A finalist who withdraws for any reason after the Finals have begun or fails to register in person for the Finals prior to the specific time, shall be replaced immediately by a "pacer". Where a pacer is used as above, all players who play a pacer shall be given 5 pins bonus.

    The bowler in their respective divisions with the highest pinfalls including bonus points shall be declared the Champion.
  7. REPORTING TIME:
    All Masters Finalists MUST check in personally 30 minutes or earlier before their respective Roll-Off times. Reserves will be called 15 minutes before Roll-Off.
