In conjunction with the celebration of Pesta Pulau Pinang, the Persatuan Tenpin Bowling Pulau Pinang, in co-operation with Majlis Sukan Negeri Pulau Pinang takes pride in announcing that it would be hosting the premier International Bowling Championship scheduled from 14th - 21st December 2002, venue at Mega Lanes, Seberang Perai, Penang. The 50 lanes bowling centre was the official venue of SEA Games 2001 Bowling event.

After successfully staged this prestigious Championship in 2001, which attracted more than 250 bowlers (both local and overseas) participation, the Persatuan anticipates a larger pool of leading bowlers from the Asian countries to participate in this year's event. Defending Champion in the Ladies' Open category, Lisa Clutario of Philippines, a Bronze medallist in the recent Asian Games is expecting a strong field of challengers for the title. Malaysia's Gerald Samuel, Defending Champion in the Men's Open category would also be challenged by Asian Games 3 Gold medallist, Remy Ong of Singapore. Entries are anticipated from National teams of Egypt, Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and our very own Malaysian National team, lead by Asian Games' Women Masters Gold medallist, Shalin Zulkifli.
