In conjunction with the celebration of Pesta Pulau Pinang, the Persatuan Tenpin Bowling Pulau Pinang, in co-operation with Majlis Sukan Negeri Pulau Pinang takes pride in announcing that it would be hosting the premier International Bowling Championship scheduled from 12th - 21st December 2003, venue at Mega Lanes, Seberang Perai, Penang. The 50 lanes bowling centre was the official venue of SEA Games 2001 Bowling event.
After successfully staged this prestigious Championship in 2002, which attracted more than 250 bowlers (both local and overseas) participation, the Persatuan anticipates a larger pool of leading bowlers from the Asian countries to participate in this year's event. Defending Champion in the Men's Open category, Purvis Granger of Philippines, the 2002 Asian Bowling Tour Grand Slam champion is expecting a strong field of challengers for the title. Team Malaysia, lead by Asian Games' Women Masters Gold medallist, Shalin Zulkifli would pose a strong challenge on the Ladies' Defending Champion, Jennifer Tan of Singapore in the Women's Open category. As SEA Games 2003 edition would not feature Tenpin Bowling as an event, entries are anticipated from National teams of South East Asian countries.
