Local veteran takes early lead

26th November, Kuantan: Veteran and youth coach, Hamzah Amin of Pahang took an early lead in the Men's qualifying table of the 6th Pahang International Open underway at Kuantan Mega Lanes for the past five days.

Hamzah Amin totaled 954 in his four-game qualifying round to take the lead in the Men's qualifying table ahead of Ancol Open Under-18 Youth Boys champion, Mohd Amirul Afif in second with 912. Syed Muzzaffar led the local youth's challenge with a 894 effort putting him third in the table.

Another local youth, Muhammad Saman finish fourth with 890 ahead of national youth member, Rodson Tong in fifth with 878. Rodson also scored the first perfect game of the tournament during his qualifying round on November 24.

Only two youth girls have made attempts in the Ladies' division. Local lass, Farah Izzazaya topped the table with a moderate 762 followed by Nik Normainura in second spot with 747.

Competition is keener in the Youth Under-21 categories with Mohd Hanif leading the Boy's division with 954. Muhammad Amirul Afif and Rodson Tong finished second and third positions with 900 and 899 respectively.

Mohd Haiqal topped the Youth Boys Graded (U18) division with a scoreline of 763 followed by Nazrim Nordin in second with 762 and Mohd Azri third with 757. Zati Iman Bt Zainudin led the Youth Girls division with 861.

Qualifying will end on November 28 with the Youth Boys Graded and Youth Girls Masters finals on Saturday morning. The Ladies' and Men's Masters will be contested on Sunday, November 30.
