This year's Games will be hosted by the State of Sabah from 5th - 14th September, 2002. The 2002 games will include tenpin bowling. There will be a total of 19 contingents comprising of 14 states including Labuan, Brunei, MSSM (Majlis Sukan Sekolah-Sekolah Malaysia), Polis DiRaja Malaysia and MASUM (Majlis Sukan Universiti-Universiti Malaysia).

This champiosnhip is sponsored by Sukan Malaysia, supported by Sabah State Government and Sabah Sports Counil, sanctioned by MTBC and organized by Persatuan Bowling Amateur Sabah (2001).
