A double victory eludes Malaysian

18th October, Jakarta: A double victory eluded newly-crowned 2nd Ancol Open champion, Shalin Zulkifli when she lost to Korea's Park Jin Hee in the women's final match of the ABF Tour Indonesia on Sunday evening.

Seeded No. 1, Shalin Zulkifli cruised into the second round of the knockout stage by outclassing Indonesia's Novie Phang, 253-199. Shalin then edged fellow-compatriot and ex-national Lai Kin Ngoh, 188-180 in Round 2.

The Malaysian was unstoppable as she chalked up another high game to end local favourite, Tannya Roumimper, 235-192 to advance into the finals and a chance to become the first female to win back-to-back Open and tour titles.

But her superb run ended after she was finally beaten, 193-226 by Korea's Park Jin Hee, who retained the women's crown she first won last year. Shalin had defeated Park in the Ancol Open to claim the women's title after a two year lapse on Saturday.

Malaysia's Zulmazran Zulkifli, who outclassed Bahrain's Yousif Falah, 262-207 in the first round, crashed out when he lost to King, 161-204 in Round 2. Adrian beat tour debutant, Aris Ardilla, 236-174 before edging Filipino, Paeng Nepomuceno, 183-162 to reach the semi-final.
