23rd October, P.Jaya: The Selection Committee of MTBC today announced that Shalin Zuklifli and Daniel Lim will represent Malaysia in the 40th AMF Bowling World Cup this December in Singapore.

It will be Shalin's 7th appearance in the World Cup after her debut in Northern Ireland 1996, where, at the age of 18, she led all the way but eventually lost to Cara Honeychurch of Australia in the stepladder finals. Shalin had finished third for three consecutive appearances in 1997 at Cairo, Egypt and 1998 at Kobe, Japan.

In her next three World Cup outings, 2000 at Lisbon, Portugal, 2001 at Pattaya, Thailand and 2003 at Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Shalin was placed fifth after failing to advance into the quarter finals.

"I felt dishearten after my last World Cup at Tegucigalpa where I again finished third in the qualifying rounds and lost my quarter final match to Jojo Canare of the Philippines. The World Cup is the only championship that I have yet to conquer after 6 attempts and it is somehow a jinx to

me. But after talking to Ahmed Shaheen of Qatar, who won the World Cup in 1999 in his seventh attempt, I decided to give it another try," said the 26-year-old four-time Malaysian National champion.

"Who knows, I will be seventh time lucky too," added Shalin after being told of MTBC's decision in naming her for the 40th AMF World Cup in Singapore this December.

Daniel Lim, who will represent Malaysia in his first ever AMF Bowling World Cup, is looking forward to be in Singapore in December. Daniel became the fourth Malaysian male bowler to win the prestigious Malaysian International Open Masters in March this year.

The 1997 World Games Gold Medalist continued to perform well in the Thailand International Open in May this year, where he came close to capturing two titles. Daniel lost to 1999 World Cup Champion and World Championship Gold Medalist, Ahmed Shaheen of Qatar in the stepladder finals and settled for 2nd in the Masters and again to the champion in the ABF Tour – Thailand Leg.

"I am excited to be picked for the World Cup. I will definitely do my best and hope to get into the top 8," said the chubby 190cm tall Marketing Executive of a shipping company in Klang. Daniel has been

bowling for more than 12 years and has represented the country since 1996 as a national youth player. He is working hard not only on the lanes, but also in the gym where he managed to reduce his weight from 90 kg to 85.

A member of the Malaysian Team who captured the historical World Tenpin Team Cup at Odense, Denmark in 2003, Daniel will be giving his best to help the Team to regain the title next month in Hoofddorp, Netherlands where the 6th and final edition of the World Tenpin Team Cup will be staged. Daniel will join Shalin in December to make his debut in Singapore, where he almost upset the World Bowler of the Year, Tim Mack of USA in the Singapore Open in September, again finishing second.
