2nd January, S.Prai: Penang's Adrian Charles Dragon and Kedah's Nur Alfeera Zurisma celebrated a great start to 2010 when they captured the Boy's and Girl's Open titles of the Piala Remaja MILO Ranking Masters Grand Finals on Saturday.

Earning their merit rights to the Grand Finals after competing in ten monthly legs in 2009, the 21-year-old burly ex-national youth, Adrian quickened his pace after a slow start to take the Boy's Open title with 2052 pinfalls.

Mohd Mamarul Nizam stormed home with a superb 255 in his tenth and final game to snatch second spot with 2020, just 32 pins off Adrian, who eased off with 183 in the last game. Pace-setter, Jason Yam settled for third with 1963.

Mohd Danial Bin Azhar of Penang and Low Wooi Kit of Kedah completed the top 5 who contested in this division in fourth and fifth spots with 1878 and 1833 respectively.

In the Girl's Open division, aided with a 100-pin handicap, Nur Alfeera Zurisma of Kedah wrestled the crown after a keen tussle with pre-tournament favourite, Fatin Hazwani of Penang with a total of 1869 pinfalls.

Fatin, who finished second runnerup in the Youth Girl's Open Masters of the recent Penang Pesta, settled for second with 1836 while another Penang lass, Izzati Zuhaili Mohd Mazli took third spot with 1805.

The Boy's 16 and under title went to 16-year-old Ahmad Muaz Mohd Fishol of Kedah, who amassed 2098 over the 10 games finals. Mohd Nazmi ohd Mazli claimed second spot with 2046 followed by Eugene Oh Chern Yu third with 1943.

Perak's 11-year-old Afiq Irsyaduddin took a convincing victory in the Boy's 12 and under title with 1011 ahead of Mohd Aidiel Albakri of Penang and Wan Zuhairi Izlan of Kedah second and third with 969 and 910.

12-year-old Nur Adlina Bte Mohd Sabri clinched the Girl's 12 and under crown with 1095, thanks to a 35-pin handicap. Penang's Nur Amirah Auni totaled 1067 for second and Nur'ain Bte Mustaffa of Kedah totaled 1064 for third.

Piala Remaja MILO Ranking Masters 2009 is organized by Persatuan Tenpin Bowling Pulau Pinang and sponsored by Nestle Products Sdn Bhd. This year's event has attracted participants from Perlis, Kedah, Perak, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
