11th September, Kuala Lumpur:
Finland's Mike Luoto came close to his ninth perfect game and the first 300 of the tournament during the first squad of the World Championships today. The 34 year old lefthander shot a 1,427 total and 237.8 average to lead the Men's Singles A squad.
"I was like in the right place….I had problems after the second game." (he bowled 166)… "I spared 1 3 6 7 and discussed with my coach and decided to try with a new ball - left the 7 and 9 then I thought "I have to try the ball I want…then spared that".
Luoto was happy with the lane conditions…"after yesterday's practice, I was not very sure but today they seemed better" he said smiling.
When asked which members of his own team he considered the greatest threat, he replied "any of them…all of them!"
