11th September, Kuala
Lumpur:
Tim Mack's bid for pole position in the men's singles event of the World Championships at the Pyramid Megalanes in Kuala Lumpur this evening fell short of that coveted slot by just 15 pins. The TeamUSA player and multi-champion who has been the World Bowling Writers International Player of the Year for the past two years had a high game of 276 and a low of 197 over his six games, totaling 1,412 for a 235 average.
Mack was amazed by the support he received from the solidly packed concourse. "First of all it is a wonderful feeling to be bowling in the WTBA World Championships at last. Secondly, I was amazed at the support I received from the crowd, it was wonderful and really inspired me to better bowling. The conditions were good, but I really had to stay focused. I did lose my way in the third game," he said. "I changed my bowling balls a couple of times and was very pleased with the following 276 and 266. Team-mate Bill Hoffman showed me the line in the last game, which really helped me to hit the high game."
