18th September, Kuala Lumpur:
Kimmo Lehtonen of Finland bowled a 300 in the team event at the Pyramid Megalanes tonight. Nothing special about that, we hear you remark, there have already been three perfect games in the Championships. But this was something special because the slim Finn was not bowling with his buddies in the Finnish team, but he had been sidelined and was moved over to the 'make-up' squad and, according to the consensus of opinion, this was the first time in World Championship history that a perfect game had come from that section of the tournament.
Why was leftie Lehtonen dropped from the team? "That's what I'm wondering, too," quickly remarked seven-year-old son Tatu, who insisted on controlling the interview.
"There has been something special about every perfect game I have bowled, from my first at the age of 15, to this, the 15th," Lehtonen remarked. |
